Your Next Career Opportunity – Manager, Tower Maintenance

The primary function of this position is to manage and oversee a team of structural engineers who focus on maintaining SBA’s assets and resources to ensure that maintenance proceeds efficiently and that resources are used effectively. This position is responsible for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating technical assignments, ensuring standards and procedures are adhered to, and recommending process improvements. It also includes performing analysis of structures including, but not limited to towers, monopoles, and other antenna supporting structures and providing recommendations for modifications and repairs.

What You Will Do – Primary Responsibilities

• Manage Tower Inspection team & assist them in performing their reviews using best engineering practices.




• Streamline the tower inspection process of reviews and communicate it to other teams.




• Review tower structure and foundation. Perform analysis for existing and proposed configurations for structures including, but not limited to towers, monopoles, and other antenna supporting structures.




• Review shop drawings, structural drawings, and calculations.




• Draw models in AutoCAD 2014 in 2D as well as 3D.




• Convert structural analysis performed in other analysis software to TNX tower software. Assist in matching results.




• Assist and perform vibration & fatigue checks using applicable codes and standards.




• Assist & perform finite element analysis using tools like Idea Statica, Ansys, and Risa 3D & verify it through hand calculations.




• Research and implement new methods to improve tower structures.




• Assist with developing policies, procedures, standards, and code-related activity.




• Assist in the design of modifications for tower reinforcing, extensions, and foundations.




• Generate required engineering reports for review.




• Other projects and duties as assigned.

• Work with Talent Acquisition to recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ a talented and diverse group of high performing team members.




• Provide oversight and direction to team members in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.




• Coach, mentor and develop team members, including overseeing new team member onboarding and providing career development planning and growth opportunities.

What You’ll Need – Qualifications & Requirements

• 
  

  Bachelor's Degree Civil/Structural Engineering or related field of study required; Master's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field with 4+ years preferred;

  
  
  
  

  • and 5 -10 years of experience in structural engineering

  
  

  • and 2+ years of experience in the communication tower design and analysis.

  
  
  
  

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with TNX, TS Tower, TES, Risa 3D, Idea Statica or other FEA software.




• Demonstrated knowledge and advanced proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite software including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook.




• Domestic Travel




• Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Certification preferred
