As the Sr. Engineering & Performance Manager on the Value Selling & Simulation Team (VSST), you will lead a sub-team of engineering & performance specialists responsible for the development, deployment and support of an extensive suite of software workflows in the Value Simulation Tool (VST) related to machine and technology selection, fleet and site optimization, and lifecycle cost analysis of these solutions.

VST software is used by Caterpillar field members, Caterpillar dealers, and customers around the world to support the selection of Caterpillar solution offerings of machines, technology, fleets, site optimization, and services growth offerings. This role collaborates closely with users, business partner leaders, engineering teams, technical marketing experts, and the overall VSST staff. This position heavily influences strategy and future direction of business decisions and offers extensive exposure to product group engineering, global sales and marketing, dealer & customer interaction, and agile software development processes.

What You Will Do:

  • Sr. Engineering & Performance Manager has three direct reports and is responsible for identifying/developing/mentoring people, skills & experience needs related to VST workflows powered by engineering / performance data, and technical marketing expert best practices.
  • Document feedback from VST users, business partners, and admins. Lead business team discussions to transform user feedback into innovative and intuitive feature enhancement ideas.
  • Responsible for strategy and execution of VST's extensive machine/technology/fleet/site optimization workflows, representing a significant portion of VST's functionality which continues to expand at a rapid pace.
  • Drive product group ownership of resource commitments, delivery of Cat technical data, and funding required to develop, deploy, maintain, and support user workflows.
  • Drive global alignment, engagement, and commitment of product group engineering, and technical marketing experts.
  • Prioritize enhancements based on user need, business impact, business partner funding across multiple divisions.
  • Lead cross functional VSST / business partner discovery sessions for machine/technology/fleet/site optimization workflows. Co-lead engineering/performance and commercial teams through voice of business / software maintenance prioritization / tradeoff discussions.
  • Define detailed functionality and acceptance criteria for workflow items, documented by project manager in Azure DevOps / GitHub. Collaborate with VSST's software team to design, develop and test enhancements.
  • Responsible for feature enhancement testing by engineering/performance team members within sprint release cadence to ensure software quality / ease of use.
  • Collaborate with VSST's commercial team for deployment strategy and user support needs
What You Have (Basic Qualifications):
  • Degree requirement : Requires a 4-year college degree concentrated in engineering.
  • Candidate must have deep expertise in the following skills :
    • Extensive and progressive experience in engineering, software product management or similar job-related experience.
    • Advanced software product technical knowledge, particularly in the areas of machine and technology selection, fleet and site optimization, and lifecycle cost analysis.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in software product management, including roadmap development, feature prioritization, and stakeholder engagement.
    • Must have dealer or customer exposure on a global level, with experience in understanding and addressing needs and requirements.

Compensation & Benefits:

Base salary for this ranges from $153,000 to $229,440. Actual salary will be based on experience. The total rewards package, beyond base salary includes:
