Business Intelligence Developer



Location:

Duties & Responsibilities:


• Work closely with key stakeholders to understand ongoing and future data needs and document reporting requirements.


• Design, develop, and implement operational and analytic reports, visualizations, and dashboards utilizing Microsoft Power BI with a focus on end user experience.


• Migrate existing reports and dashboards from various Microsoft reporting tools such as SSRS, SSAS, Power BI desktop, and Power BI Reporting Server to Power BI Service.


• Administer the Power BI environment


• Analyze report performance and implement performance tuning, including visual components, DAX queries, Power Query, data model, caching to deliver high performance reports


• Utilize knowledge of Azure cloud data services such as data lake (ADLS), data warehouse, Synapse Analytics, and Analysis Services, to design and develop optimal reports to meet user needs.


• Collaborate with other team members including data architect and data engineers to design and implement data models and data transformations for Power BI reports and Azure Analysis Services.


• Design, develop, and implement processes and functions to ensure data quality in reports and analytics.


• Incorporate data governance policies, processes and procedures in delivery of reports and analytics to end users.


• Incorporate AI/ML techniques and functions (e.g. Power BI Copilot) to enhance data processing and reporting.


• Assist the Help Desk with problem and incident management.


• Assist with end user training.


• Participate in the agile software development process.



Minimum Requirements:



• Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of prior relevant experience.


• At least a minimum of 4 years of demonstrated experience delivering reports, visualization, and analytics using Power BI, to include Power BI Cloud Service, Power BI desktop, Power BI Report Server


• Experience working with the Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack (Power BI, SSAS, SSRS, and SSIS)


• Experience tuning reports performance including optimizing DAX, Power Query, data models


• Experience with Azure based data services, including ADLS Gen2, Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Azure Analysis Services


• Experience with SQL databases (OLTP, OLAP), data preparation, multi-dimensional models, TSQL, DAX/MDX, Power Query, data warehousing


• Experience with Power BI Cloud Service administration


• Experience with data integration, including developing Azure Data Factory pipelines, SSIS packages


• Experience in Agile projects, working with a multi-functional team.


• Strong analytical capabilities with proven problems solving skills.


• Must be detail oriented, and able to multi-task with good follow through skills.


• Ability to work well in a team environment and/or work alone with limited supervision


• Ability to successfully obtain a government-issued Public Trust clearance.



Other:



• Power BI and Microsoft Azure data analytics related certifications


• Experience developing predictive analytics, utilizing AI/ML functions


• Experience with Power BI datamart development


• Experience supporting data governance, including data catalogs, business glossaries, metadata management


• Experience with Design Thinking and Human Centered Design, and persona driven solutions.
