Currently a member of the California Bar admission in good standing
Minimum of 10 years of employment law experience, specifically in California

Salary range: $135k-$150k/year approximation (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to factors such as education, experience, skillset, and/or location).Howmet Aerospace Inc. is currently in search of a part-time Employment Counsel to join the corporate Legal organization. This position will provide legal support to the Company on a wide variety of employment, labor, and/or benefits issues, supporting the Company's business units and resource units with a focus on California employment law expertise.
This is a part time, fully remote role with an expectation of 25-30 hours/week. California based residency preferred, states in which Howmet currently conducts business will also be considered.
Major activities / Key challenges:
Advise and counsel on a broad spectrum of employment law issues, including leaves of absence, hiring, discipline, terminations, contingent labor, job classifications, performance, wage and hour compliance, restrictive covenants, immigration, unfair labor practice charges, and reductions in force
Advise on employment matters, both domestically and internationally, including state and federal compliance (e.g., ADA, ADEA, Title VII, FMLA, FLSA, WARN Act and state/municipal equivalents)
Monitor legislation, regulations, case law, and government enforcement activities relating to employment issues and provide proactive, strategic advice to the HR community, and all relevant stakeholders with a focus on California specific regulations
Provide support to team members addressing HR related investigations and litigation, including PAGA matters in California
Coordinate with Regional Legal Counsel and Business Unit Counsel to provide legal services efficiently and effectively to the Company's global business units
Review, interpret and make recommendations to management for improvement of company policies, procedures, handbooks, and programs per changes in federal and state laws and regulations with a focus on California specific regulations
Monitor federal, state, and local legislation, regulations, and case law on employment-related matters pertinent to the company; communicate updates and recommendations as needed
Develop and conduct training and education programs on various employment law topics and benefits matters
Influence and provide timely and effective legal and business advice, and effectively collaborate with corporate Legal staff
