A Day in the Life
Biomedical Engineering position for an experienced candidate supporting Medtronic's Neuromodulation and Pelvic Health Operating Units. This person will be responsible for leading research & technology development projects with a focus on cutting edge software solutions for rapid translation to the product development pipeline. The successful candidate will be able to lead focused projects through preclinical and benchtop studies, support the use of technology solutions in human clinical studies, and develop software for specific technical implementations. The candidate must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve project and business objectives.
Responsibilities:


  • Design and execute technology projects for new research concepts in a variety of settings, including preclinical, computational, and human clinical studies

  • Implement and de-risk potential technology solutions, particularly for novel classifiers and algorithms

  • Drive handoff efforts of potential implementations into the product development pipeline

  • Champion inclusion of concepts into products by working cross-functionally with engineering, clinical, risk, regulatory, and business partners

  • Contribute, as needed, to larger team efforts in creating novel, investigational research systems for human clinical use

Must Have:


  • Baccalaureate degree in a technically related field(or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.

Nice to Have


  • Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field +4 or more years work experience, or advanced degree with 2 or more years work experience

  • Experience leading or providing technology solutions for preclinical, clinical, benchtop or computational research studies

  • Experience with procedural and/or object-oriented software development (e.g., C, C#, C++, Java, Python)

  • Experience interfacing with embedded processors/systems, microcontrollers, and development tools

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • 5+ years medical device experience, especially class III devices

  • Experience developing software for Android operating system

  • Strong knowledge of software design, development, and debug practices

  • Outstanding communication skills to collaborate within and across engineering and research project teams

  • Able to obtain and maintain credentialing for access to operating rooms, including up-to-date vaccinations

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$102,400.00 - $153,600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
