Job Description Summary: Perform a variety of tasks including forming, placing, finishing, protecting and repairing all concrete surfaces, according to specifications and drawings. Smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete, such as floors, walks, sidewalks, roads, or curbs using a variety of hand and power tools.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Monitor how the wind, heat, or cold affect the curing of the concrete throughout the entire process
Perform rough carpentry and concrete finishing work
Chip, scrape, and grind high spots, ridges, and rough projections to finish concrete, using pneumatic chisels, power grinders, or hand tools
Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure surface of concrete, and waterproof or restore surface
Cut out damaged areas, drill holes for reinforcing rods, and position reinforcing rods to repair concrete, using power saw and drill
Mix cement, sand, and water to produce concrete, grout, or slurry, using hoe, trowel, tamper, scraper, or concrete-mixing machine
Direct the casting of the concrete and supervise laborers who use shovels or special tools to spread it
Signal truck driver to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete, and move chute to direct concrete on forms
Mold expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge
Spread, level, and smooth concrete, using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float
Set the forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth, and align them
Finish concrete to specifications in all finish types i.e. slick trowel, broom finish, etc.
Operate trowel machine proficiently
Maintain proper grade for concrete throughout process
Ensure flatness and tolerances per ACI or project specifications
Transfer grade elevations using laser or building level
Assist in setting up concrete pump
Understand AHJ details on right of way work
Complete other responsibilities as assigned
Skills or Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Journeyman Cement Finisher or similar role
Must have good vision, stamina, good hand and eye coordination
Proper use of chemicals, hand and power tools as they pertain to each task or surface treatment Knowledge of slump, concrete testing, additives, curing procedures, spec requirements, weather conditions and their effect on job conditions and finishing procedures
Must have knowledge of proper cross slopes and acceptable tolerances of all sidewalks, ADA ramps, curbs driveways, and other concrete structures
Able to calculate concrete volume
Familiar with ACI standards
Lift and/or pull 50-100lbs., climb ladders, work off ladders, man lifts or other equipment
Ability to maintain a standing position for extended periods of time, fully squat, bend or kneel while wearing a tool belt
Capable of working in a variety of weather conditions
