ROLE PURPOSE: The purpose of this role is to lead and oversee basic safety programs for New Chapter’s 100,000 square foot building.     

MAJOR ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Lead compliance with and auditing for State (Vermont) and Federal regulations for Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) systems

  • Develops and implements safety programs that are meant to prevent injuries, fires, or other workplace accidents.

  • Schedules and oversees workplace inspections that identify and address potential safety hazards.

  • Tracks participation in safety training programs educating employees on safe working practices, appropriate equipment operation, and emergency procedures.

  • Investigates incidents or accidents, gathers, and analyzes statistics, and makes recommendations for improvements; Prepares and submits accident reports in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.

KEY COMPETENCIES:


  • Effective communicator and collaborator with the ability to work effectively with all levels internally, as well as external resources and regulatory agencies.

  • Ability to hold people accountable for results.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA 1910, DOT and VOSHA regulations.

  • Must be able to role model safety, resolve defects, and to address unsafe or non-compliant behaviors.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION and CREDENTIALS:


  • Bachelors in a safety science, engineering, industrial hygiene discipline preferred

  • 2 years relevant experience
