RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Network Engineer/Storage Architect in Washington, DC.

Duties Include:

• Senior Network Engineer/Storage Architect will design, deploy, and manage advanced network solutions in both on-premises and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)


• Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and other network devices


• Develop and implement network security policies, procedures, and practices


• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal performance and uptime


• Collaborate with DevOps and IT teams to integrate network solutions with cloud-based applications and services


• As a Senior Network Engineer/Storage Architect, you will automate network operations and processes using scripts and tools


• Conduct regular network assessments and audits to identify and mitigate risks


• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior network engineers


• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements in network technology and cloud computing


• Document network designs, configurations, and procedures


• Offer Tier 2 support during network impacting outages, performance issues, and other related troubles


• Work as part of an on-call resource rotation for afterhours support - there is a team of 4 which works out to being on call 1 week a month where they can expect a few calls a week

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field


• Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering, with at least 3 years focused on cloud architecture


• Must have experience with network protocols, including but not limited to: OSPF, RADIUS, TACACS, STP, MPLS, etc.


• Proficiency in configuring and managing network devices (Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, etc.)


• In-depth understanding of networking protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, etc.)


• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and related networking services


• Strong knowledge of network security principles and practices


• Experience with network automation tools and scripting languages (Python, Ansible, etc.)


• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure


• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
