Hays has partnered with a real estate holding company that is looking for a Portfolio Accountant to oversee a recently developed Class A Luxury Mixed-Use high rise in LA.



Your new role


The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the financial operations of the property and requires a strong understanding of real estate accounting, financial reporting, and portfolio management.


  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the property portfolio.

  • Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support strategic planning and decision-making.

  • Oversee the accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payments and collections.

  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

  • Manage tenant billing, lease administration, and rent collection, ensuring compliance with lease agreements.

  • Conduct variance analysis to identify and explain discrepancies between actual and budgeted financial performance.

  • Coordinate with external auditors and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies.

  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support property management and investment decisions.

  • Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure the financial stability of the property portfolio.

  • Work closely with 3rd party property managers, leasing agents, and other stakeholders to ensure the financial success of the property.




What you'll need to succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in real estate accounting or a similar role.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting principles.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
