The Senior Manager Supply Chain oversees protocols, strategy and procedures related to the acquisition and readiness of materials and equipment. The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership and communication skills who can inspire a team. This role is tasked with meeting monthly and quarterly quotas and may oversee a region of manufacturing locations. The Senior Manager Supply Chain is responsible for increasing the speed and efficiency of supply operations so that revenue goals are met while continuing to provide outstanding, reliable service to customers.  This role must have a firm understanding of JIT operations and meet key deliverables related to Company inventory requirements.

 Essential Functions:


  • Assume regional responsibility in developing Supply Chain systems, procedures and policies involving purchasing, production and material control. Interface with Quality Department to stay in process for all systems.   

  • Responsible for delivering key performance metrics during launch activities including providing onsite support and management for production, material procurement and manufacturing schedules. Monitor reports and hold team accountable for ensuring sufficient materials are available to production and inbound raw materials and outbound shipping schedules are maintained.   

  • Develop supplier relationships to ensure a continuing source vendor. Work with Corporate Purchasing as a resource for supplier information and meet locally with supplier representatives.   

  • Keep informed on availability and price trends on new materials, products and sources.   

  • Devise methods and policies at a Regional Level ensuring most efficient and economical movement of all materials in and out of the plant. Follow Quality procedures to effect change through procedures, work instructions and training.   

  • Take necessary actions to eliminate delays to ensure adherence to production and shipping schedules. Create work flow changes as necessary on an on-going basis for prevention plan for timing issues. Communicate all changes to staff members to ensure engagement and comprehension.  

  • Directs team on the usage of material to produce the product taking into consideration numerous variables. Holds team accountable for assessing and anticipating material trends and usage based on initial information for new and on-going programs.   

  • Develops systems and programs to insure effectiveness of the department within quality guidelines and formats. 

  • Participates in annual budget forecast. 

  • Responsible for managing the team and providing support for shipment schedules to ensure customer requirements are met using resources/tools available, developing assessments and metrics for on-going performance.   

  • Empowers team and helps analyze future customer demand to identify manpower, tooling and equipment needs.   

  • Manages team through the physical inventory process. Evaluate and report significant inventory variance, lead team through identifying root cause and corrective action for inventory discrepancies.  

  • Track performance of team and suppliers and publish metrics on delivery, quality and cost.

Additional Responsibilities:


  • Train and mentor Supply Chain employees. 

  • Monitor and elevate accidents and injuries; ensure proper protocols are met. 

  • Create strategies that increase efficiency and speed. 

  • Collaborate with other departments to close operational gaps. 

  • Provide onsite support as needed particularly during launch and help the team to optimize warehouse functions. 

  • Handle communications and negotiations with suppliers as needed. 

Work Environment:


  • ​Office Environment 

  • May frequent manufacturing plants and must follow all rules while visiting locations. 

  • Work is indoor in a manufacturing setting that may not be temperature controlled. 

  • Works closely with others, perhaps within a foot of another person 

  • Personal protective equipment is required 

  • ​Often exposed to distracting sounds and noisy conditions

Qualification

Required Education:

Bachelor's Level Degree Area of Study: Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or similar. | *Equivalent work experience may also be considered for certain positions.

Required Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with Information Technology, Procurement, Commercial or Business Administration 

  • Minimum of 3 years of product launch experience actively working with the supplier and manufacturing team as the equipment is built, tested, and installed. 

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience within the automotive industry 

  • Must be able and willing to travel and work at customer sites, including industrial manufacturing plants which might require climbing, lifting, or working in confined spaces. 

  • Previous experience in material planning/purchasing.   

  • Buyer experience in repetitive, JIT manufacturing. 

  • Expertise in MRP systems. 

  • Previous management experience.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing and quality principles. 

  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Passion for results, strategy, and hands on execution. Creative, calculated risk taker with the ability to manage difficult suppliers and resolve disputes while preserving relationships with suppliers and internal staff. 

  • Team development and demonstrated leadership in supply chain organizations. 

  • Strong written and verbal skills as well as organizational and program management capabilities. 

  • Proficient in Excel, Project, Power Point, Word, ERP systems (SAP or equivalent).
