What You Will Do:

Join us as the Human Resources Manager for our plant in Geneva, Illinois and serve as part of the plant leadership team as the HR expert and coach. In this role you will manage a small team to cover the daily HR duties of our battery manufacturing plant. This role is a blend of both corporate and local HR needs with a primary focus on the 300-person local plant and helping those workers feel connected to overall plant goals and operational KPIs. Jump in, learn the business inside and out, and be the HR manager for one of our most important plants in Clarios' US region.

How You Will Do It:

• Manages and executes HR processes, including talent engagement and development, managerial training and coaching, performance management, employee relations & case management, FMLA and return-to-work procedures, merit/salary planning, with a special skill set for metrics, KPIs, and planning.


• Understands labor agreement administration, interpretation, enforcement, grievance procedures. May be co-negotiator in labor negotiations. Leads change initiatives through excellent motivational and consultation skills for hourly (80%) and salaried (20%) plant employees.  


• Advises and counsels plant leadership, managers, and supervisors on a variety of topics to build up & sustain employee engagement, team development, and organizational effectiveness. 


• Nurtures, mentors, and leads the existing HR team - an HR Generalist and HR Coordinator.


• Works side-by-side with our corporate RPO vendor to ensure recruiting success through great planning, candidate experience, interviewing decisions, and orientation and early acclimation of our newest hires.

What We Look For:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field w/ at least six years’ experience as a human resources generalist or manager.


• Must have experience working in a plant environment.


• Labor Relations experience and / or exposure to grievances, arbitration and negotiations is required - with a keen willingness to learn and build relationships with our union quickly.


• Flexible hours are necessary so at least one person from the HR team can be present M-F from 6:30am until 5pm.


• SPHR or PHR certification preferred - absolute expertise and credibility in HR topics is required


• PowerBI familiarity would be a plus. Excellent Excel and analytical skills are a must. 


• Someone who can handle the constant interruptions of a typical day with grace without losing momentum and focus on the important bigger picture strategies and projects.

Geneva, Illinois is home to a fully integrated plant that manufactures batteries used in the automotive and marine industries. As a fully integrated plant, we also decorate our batteries into the final product for our customers. We have been in Geneva since 1960, and today we are one of the largest employers in town with 265 people. We operate six days per week.
