Job Description:

Ultimate Staffing has partnered with a collaborative engineering firm in Charleston, SC and they are actively hiring! They are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Project Engineer to offer engineering support to various Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) teams on commercial construction projects.



Duration: Permanent, Direct Hire position



Location: Charleston, SC - Travel required within the state of SC



Salary Range: $75,000-90,000, depending on experience



Job Responsibilities:



  • Review and respond to contractor submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs), providing clear and accurate technical guidance

  • Analyze and review contractor cost proposals, ensuring they are fair and aligned with the project scope and budget

  • Conduct detailed reviews of Contract Documents to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with project specifications and standards

  • Perform engineering calculations, select appropriate equipment, and manage scheduling requirements for mechanical systems

  • Act as the firm's representative in construction meetings, addressing technical issues related to mechanical systems and coordinating with other disciplines

  • Administer commercial construction contracts, including understanding and applying AIA, EJCDC, and other relevant contract forms. Manage contractual changes and ensure compliance with contractual obligations

  • Leverage a comprehensive understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems to ensure effective coordination between engineering disciplines and architecture




Requirements:



  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical buildings design, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, with a strong focus on construction contract administration

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university

  • Strong technical design and engineering abilities, with a proven ability to apply these skills in contract administration and project management

  • Proficient in commercial construction contracts (AIA, EJCDC) and experienced in managing contract-related processes and documentation

  • Excellent work ethic with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively




Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience in mechanical design, project management, or direct contract administration roles

  • Familiarity with cost estimating practices and experience in developing accurate project cost estimates

  • CDT (Construction Document Technologist) or CCCA (Certified Construction Contract Administrator) certification
