What we do: 

Markets Risk and Control (MRC) supports the Markets Group’s senior management and business team’s  adherence with the Bank’s risk management framework and three lines of defense model.  MRC leads execution of first-line business risk and compliance programs that include vendor and third-party risk management, business continuity and resiliency, business process modeling, internal controls over financial reporting, and trading compliance, among other core areas that promote effective risk management and resilience of the Group’s critical processes.

Your role as a Business Risk and Control Associate:


  • Plan and execute risk-based key control testing program of trading desk operations involving the implementation of monetary policy and customer trades with counterparties.


  • Maintain inventory of end-to-end processes (via existing business processing modeling) that involve trading compliance, and support management’s inventory and documentation of trading compliance key controls (i.e., IT and manual) in process maps and Risk Control Matrix.


  • Conduct process walkthroughs, develop test plans, request support documentation, and perform independent tests of key controls for design and operating effectiveness.  


  • Document test results, analyze exceptions, summarize results and conclusions, assist management with control deficiency evaluations and the development of remediation plans, and perform follow up testing to confirm effective/timely remediation of issues.  


  • Monitor the status of trading compliance program and communicate results to senior Markets management and Bank’s Compliance Function through KPIs/KRIs and risk reporting.  


  • Build subject matter expertise in trading operations and critical activities, and provide consultation to business team’s evaluation of process, risks and control changes.  


  • Maintain strong relationships with business subject matter experts, Compliance Function, Internal Audit, and other Bank or FRS stakeholders.  


  • Support the implementation of the Markets Group’s risk management program (i.e., risk identification, analysis, response, communication, monitoring and escalation). Under minimal supervision, engage with business areas in fulfilling deliverables and initiatives relating to the Bank’s risk frameworks (e.g., operational, compliance, and financial statement reporting).


What we are looking for:


  • Knowledge of trading desk operations and associated compliance requirements preferred; as well as previous risk management, compliance or audit experience.


  • Understanding of trading compliance and operational risk control principles, including knowledge of IT systems and controls.


  • Experience in auditing or testing trading desk controls for design and operating effectiveness, or other business process or IT controls assurance work.


  • Technical abilities in data compilation and analysis, attention to detail and quantitative skills.


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint and Tableau


  • Demonstrated competencies, skills and behaviors, including:


  • well-developed written and verbal communication skills;


  • organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks/projects;


  • proven customer service and ability to influence stakeholders; driving buy-in, consensus, and cross-team collaboration.


Salary Range: $116500 - $175000 / year
