Job Summary:


The Manufacturing Applications Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing manufacturing processes and systems. This role requires a strong understanding of manufacturing principles, proficiency in engineering software, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize production efficiency and quality. The ideal candidate will have a blend of technical expertise and practical experience in a manufacturing environment.


 


Key Responsibilities:


- Process Development: Design and develop manufacturing processes and systems to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.


- Technical Support: Provide technical support to production teams, troubleshooting issues, and implementing solutions to minimize downtime.


- Collaboration: Work closely with design engineers, production staff, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless integration of new processes and products.


- Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize manufacturing operations and enhance productivity.


- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of processes, procedures, and equipment specifications.


- Project Management: Lead and manage projects related to process improvements, new product introductions, and equipment upgrades.


- Training: Develop and deliver training programs for production staff on new processes and equipment.


- Compliance: Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.


- Data Analysis: Analyze production data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for innovation.


- Vendor Relations: Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source materials and equipment, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.


 


 


Qualifications:


- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is preferred.  Years of experience will be considered in lieu of education.


- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role.


- Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks), knowledge of manufacturing software (e.g., ERP, MES), and familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.


- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex manufacturing issues.


- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.


- Project Management: Demonstrated experience managing projects from conception through completion, with strong organizational and time-management skills.


- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.


- Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality.


 


Preferred Qualifications:


- Certifications: Lean Six Sigma certification, PMP certification, or relevant professional engineering certifications.


- Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, particularly in the automotive, aerospace, or consumer goods industries.


- Experience/knowledge of CNC equipment


- Experience/knowledge of industrial robotics


- Experience/knowledge of a variety of sensors, vision systems, etc.


- Experience/knowledge of pneumatic/hydraulic equipment


- Experience/knowledge reading schematics, prints, and GD&T


- Familiarity with Industry 4.0 technologies and automation systems.
