Job Description:

Sansum Diabetes Research Institute has an opportunity for a full-time, board certified, or board-eligible Endocrinologist to serve as a Clinical Research Investigator.


SDRI is a non-profit organization and center of excellence with a mission to improve the lives of people impacted by diabetes through research, education, and clinical care. We are a preferred site for industry sponsored clinical trials, a testament to our exceptional research capabilities. On average, SDRI conducts 25+ trials per year, engaging approximately 1,000 participants. Current industry partners include Abbott, Dexcom, Insulet, Eli Lilly, Mannkind, Medtronic Diabetes, Novo Nordisk, Sanofi, Tandem Diabetes Care, and more. We are experts with experience across all study phases, and a broad portfolio of trials and clinical work focused on diabetes and metabolic health.

We are currently renovating our 18,000 square foot research facility to create a state-of-the-art center where we will accelerate life-changing diabetes research.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Responsible for 12+ Industry Sponsored Trials Per Year (Adult and Pediatric Trials)
Design, Fund, and Execute Investigator Initiated Trials
Develop Strategies and Partnerships to Drive Innovation Across the Enterprise
Opportunity to Maintain a Clinical Practice through our Clinics or through Service at the Community Clinics or our neighboring Hospital (Women's Health, Pregnancy, Pediatrics, Adult Endocrinology) One Day per Week
Standard Office Hours, No Call Service

REQUIREMENTS


MD or DO with Directly Related Experience in Endocrinology, Mix of Academic and Industry Experience Preferred
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Endocrinology
DEA Certificate
Eligible to Work in the United States
Must be in or Relocate to Santa Barbara, CA
CA Licensure or the Ability to Obtain CA Licensure
Interest in Research, Experience with Research
Experience Performing Typical Endocrinology Procedures
Exceptional Communication and Interpersonal Skills

LANGUAGE SKILLS


The ability to read, write, and speak English clearly is required. The ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, SOPs, and procedures and an understanding of and ability to communicate in scientific language is critical. Spanish proficiency or fluency highly desired.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The incumbent is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, and climb stairs. The incumbent frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel equipment, paper, or files. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

This position requires manual dexterity, skill level and adequate vision to record data onto data sheets and adequate hearing and verbal communication skills to converse with study subjects. Standing for extended periods of time as well as light lifting is necessary.

The incumbent must be in sufficient overall health to report for work consistently and reliably and work through a standard day with appropriate breaks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment would be generally described as an office setting with clinical facilities adjacent to the primary work area and laboratory facilities on a different floor. The ability to move within all three of these areas may be required in the execution of the employee's functional activities. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, and the work area's illumination is mainly with fluorescent artificial lighting.

This position is associated with exposure to biohazardous materials and communicable disease requiring the use of universal precautions and other conditions common to a medical clinic and research facility.

COMPENSATION


$210,000 - $330,000 Annually NOTE: The listed range is solely a base compensation for experienced full-time physician researchers. It does not include incentives and benefits. The base compensation rate may be adjusted based on training, community need and other possible determining factors.
