Overview
Intelligent Waves has an outstanding new opportunity for a Data Scientist to work on an important technical program for a major DoD organization with follow-on work in Tysons, VA. We are seeking a skilled Data Scientist with a solid foundation in both Data Science and Software Development. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing complex datasets to drive business decisions, developing software tools and systems for data processing, and collaborating closely with AI and customer teams. - Deploying and configuring cutting-edge, AI-powered enterprise applications on the C3 AI Platform.
- Testing, troubleshooting, and enhancing customer software applications to ensure optimal performance.
- Training, validating, and deploying sophisticated machine learning pipelines.
- Collaborating closely with data and subject matter experts within customer teams to extract, understand, validate, interpret, and leverage critical data and business insights.

Location & Travel: This Data Scientist position is a remote position with 25% travel to other sites. Travel will be reimbursed based on GSA Per Diem rates and DoD Joint Travel Regulations (JTR). The position is based in Tysons, Virginia, and may transition to a hybrid format at the end of the year, necessitating local residency.
Security Clearance: This Data Scientist position must be a United States Citizen and hold a current Secret security clearance.
Employees are required to follow all company and customer site COVID-19 protocols.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with data and subject matter experts in AI and customer teams to seek, understand, validate, interpret, and correctly use data and business insights.
- Train, validate, and deploy machine learning pipelines.
- Test, troubleshoot, and enhance customer software applications with and on behalf of customers.
- Identify application performance bottlenecks and implement optimizations.
- Write application specifications, tutorials, and documentation.
- Collect, process, and analyze large datasets from various sources to extract meaningful insights.
- Develop predictive models and algorithms to solve business problems and optimize performance.
- Design, develop, and maintain software tools and systems for data processing, analysis, and visualization.
- Implement machine learning models and integrate them into production environments.
- Perform data validation, cleaning, and transformation to ensure data quality and accuracy.
- Conduct A/B testing and statistical analysis to evaluate the impact of changes and improvements.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in data science, machine learning, and software development.
Qualifications
- An active Secret level security clearance with DoD is required.
- MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, or equivalent fields.
- 3-5 years of experience in data science, machine learning, or a related field.
- Applied Machine Learning experience (regression and classification, supervised, and unsupervised learning).
- Strong mathematical background (linear algebra, calculus, probability, and statistics).
- Proficiency in time-series data analysis, cleansing, and normalization.
- Experience with scalable Machine Learning (MapReduce, streaming).
- Software development experience with JavaScript, Python, and Leetcode.
- Experience with Git or other version control software.
- Strong experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, matplotlib).
- Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, scikit-learn).
- Solid understanding of software development practices, including version control, testing, and deployment.
- Ability to drive a project and work both independently and in a team.
- Smart, motivated, can-do attitude, and seeks to make a difference.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with deep learning techniques and neural networks.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with Agile or Scrum development methodologies.
