As the Engineer, Custom Metrology Solutions, you will be at the forefront of developing and delivering custom interferometer products and accessories that meet unique customer requirements. Reporting to the Manager of Custom Metrology Solutions, you'll manage every aspect of these projects, from initial quotation through to field support. This role requires a blend of technical acumen and project management skills to ensure that every custom solution is designed, built, and delivered to exceed customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities



  • Quotation & Design: Collaborate with Sales and Product Managers to evaluate customer needs and create tailored metrology solutions. You'll develop comprehensive quotes that cover all aspects-mechanical, electrical, optical, and software-ensuring a clear understanding of material and labor costs and lead times.

  • Project Management: Work closely with cross-functional teams in Engineering, Planning, Procurement, and Operations to create and execute detailed project plans. Your goal: deliver custom metrology solutions on time and within budget.

  • Engineering Design: Translate customer specifications into engineering requirements and work with our Instruments Engineering and CAD Design teams to develop and document custom designs. Your knowledge of Zygo instruments and their performance will be key to success.

  • Assembly & Testing: Lead the assembly and testing of custom interferometers, either hands-on or by directing technicians. Ensure that each product meets specifications through rigorous acceptance testing, and prepare detailed test reports to share with customers.

  • Field Support: Provide ongoing support for custom metrology products, collaborating with Zygo Service to maintain product performance throughout its lifecycle.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field with 3-5 years of relevant experience in the assembly and testing of precision opto-mechanical and/or electro-mechanical systems, or
  • Associate's degree in a related technical field with 5-7 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Compensation

Salary Minimum: $90,000

Salary Maximum: $130,000
