You will have the opportunity to work with clients in a variety of sectors including health systems and providers, physician groups, ancillary providers, medical schools, vision, laboratory, dental and behavior health; managed care and health plans, government plans and programs, healthcare investors and lenders, medical devices, healthcare suppliers and infrastructure, and life sciences.

What will you be doing?

As a Managing Director, you will lead projects and teams to solve for complex business issues and maximize value for our clients. You will have the opportunity to manage a variety of challenging projects in various sectors including health systems and providers, managed care/health plans, medical device and pharma companies.

Through close collaboration with fellow MDs, you will work on expanding our existing portfolios while also pursuing new business. You will be responsible for networking, sourcing, and developing new business. You will establish and build deep consultative client relationships with executives through hands on day-to-day project and client management.

You will provide supportive leadership, by providing development and career guidance through mentoring and performance feedback to the consultants supporting your projects. You will also be building a profile and reputation in the industry through speaking or development of thought leadership content, developing new client relationships or having a recognized industry expertise. This will assist in driving your team to stay up to date with the changes in the healthcare industry in order to advance and sustain a respected reputation in the market.

You will work with a team that is passionate about delivering transformational change to our clients through our consulting, advisory and interim management services in financial and operational performance improvement, strategy, and merger & acquisition services.

What are we looking for?


  • A high-energy and successful business transformation leader with extensive knowledge and experience in strategy, advisory operational and financial performance improvement or M&A in healthcare industry sectors we serve.

  • Prior advisory experience that will likely be from a top tier management consultancy, a specialty consulting or strategy firm. Alternatively, the successful candidate may have held c-suite role or within a healthcare business of significant size, scale and complexity.

  • A demonstrated track record in growing a consulting practice or business by converting business contacts and leads into sustainable, profitable revenue streams through a network of contacts across the U.S.

  • An ability to develop and manage client relationships.

  • A hands-on and non-hierarchical operator who is equally effective in managing up and down and relates well at all levels and cultures.

  • Strong facilitation skills, forging consensus around credible, executable solutions.

  • A deep understanding of end-to-end client operations and needs. Recognize opportunities to expand work within existing clients and identify opportunities for improvement across their business.

  • A passion about affecting real change.

  • A standard for objective, fact-based approach to problem solving.

  • An ability to read people accurately; can diagnose strengths, weaknesses, and potential; knows what skills are required to fill a job or role; hires the best.

  • Proven ability to build a successful team by identifying, recruiting, developing and retaining world class talent at all levels of the organization. Inspire a team environment that cultivates success, develops talent and fosters open communication.

  • A leader that's driven by values and integrity, talks straight, builds confidence and leads by example.

  • The ability to manage a multiple stakeholder environment within a privately-owned business.

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, confident and impactful presenter.

  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging, and uncertain environment.

  • An ability to deliver time-pressured projects on-time and on-quality through a structured project management (time, team and work-stream management) approach.

  • A minimum of 15-20 years of combined consulting and/or industry operating experience.

  • Flexibility to travel up to 80% of the time.

Compensation Statement:

The annual base salary range is $250k-$300k, commensurate with experience. In addition, A&M offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance. Please ask your recruiter for details.
