Salary Range: $115,000-$159,000 annually

LANES is a community-based Healthcare Information Organization (HIO) whose mission is to improve health care delivery by building a platform that enables cost-effective and secure electronic exchange of patient medical records among public and private health care providers and health plans in Los Angeles County. LANES seeks to make personal health information available when and where it is needed for patient care, safely and securely.


As an Integration Engineer your expertise will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining seamless integrations between healthcare systems and data sources, leveraging Mirth Connect and other Health Information Exchange technologies. You will play a critical role in facilitating the secure and efficient exchange of patient data across different healthcare entities while understanding of HIE technologies will adhering to industry standards and best practices. Your technical prowess, familiarity with Mirth Connect, and deep understanding of HIE technologies will contribute to the success of LANES.


Special Note: This is a virtual home-based position. Will be required to attend in-person meetings in Los Angeles area on an as-needed basis.


This is a full-time benefitted position. Employment is provided by Heluna Health.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Technical Expertise: Leverage your in-depth knowledge of Mirth Connect and HIE technologies to troubleshoot complex integration issues, optimize performance, and ensure data integrity.

  • Integration Solution Design: Design data integration solutions that align with HIE goals and requirements. Utilize your familiarity with Mirth Connect to create robust, scalable, and efficient integration workflows.

  • Implementation and Development: Develop, configure, and customize integration solutions using Mirth Connect and other relevant technologies. Ensure proper data mapping, transformation, and routing to facilitate accurate and timely data exchange.

  • Incident troubleshooting and resolution: Respond to service level degradation, outages, and other incidents. Triage, troubleshoot, and identify root causes of incidents. Develop and implement incident resolution plans.

  • Interoperability Standards: Ensure compliance with industry standards and protocols such as HL7, IHE, and FHIR while implementing integration solutions, fostering seamless data exchange between diverse healthcare systems.

  • Testing and Validation: Conduct thorough testing and validation of integration workflows to ensure reliability, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Collaborate with Quality Assurance teams to address defects and issues.

  • Documentation and Training: Create comprehensive documentation of integration solutions, workflows, and configurations. Provide training and support to end-users, technical teams, and other stakeholders as needed.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and healthcare professionals, to align integration efforts with LANES objectives.

  • Compliance: Be aware of and comply with healthcare cybersecurity and privacy laws, regulations, industry standards, and company policies.

  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with emerging trends and advancements in HIE technologies, Mirth Connect, and related technologies. Identify and propose opportunities for process optimization and integration enhancements.

  • Project Management: Participate in integration projects; adhere to timelines; identify and communicate risks and issues; and effectively communicate progress to stakeholders. Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, QA engineers, subject matter experts, customers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful implementation and delivery.


 JOB QUALIFICATIONS



  • Proven experience (3+ years) as a Data Integration Engineer with hands-on experience in designing and implementing integration solutions using Mirth Connect and other HIE technologies is required.

  • Strong proficiency in Mirth Connect, including channel development, interface customization, and configuration is required.

  • Familiarity with healthcare data exchange standards and protocols such as HL7, IHE, and FHIR.

  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Java, JavaScript) for scripting and customization withing Mirth Connect.

  • Experience in data mapping, transformation, and routing to ensure accurate and secure data exchange.

  • Experience resolving integration issues such as data formats, protocol mismatches, authentication, authorization, connectivity, certification expiry, system version conflicts, latency, and timeout.

  • Ability to document and communicate issues and issue resolution with stakeholders.

  • Experience with relational databases and the ability to write SQL queries.

  • Experience with working in a cloud environment.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Strong documentation skills to create comprehensive integration solution documentation.

  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities to work seamlessly within cross-functional teams and interact with stakeholders.

  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic environment.


Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Experience with Google BigQuery, postgres, and PowerBI is preferred.

  • Experience with AWS, GCP, and Google Health API is preferred.

  • Familiarity with working with and documenting in project management and knowledge management tools, e.g., JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint, and other Microsoft Office products.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and collaboratively

  • Ability to multitask.

  • Ability to work in a fast-moving and performance-driven environment.

  • Ability to adopt best-in-class processes and tools

  • Excellent communication and written documentation skills

  • Ability to develop reports and present them to various audiences (teams, management, and customers).

  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others in a team environment and independently
