Position: Assistant Professor of Accounting (Tenure Track)

Stetson Universitys School of Business Administration invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor of Accounting (9 month appointment) in DeLand, FL. The Stetson School of Business is an entrepreneurially minded School with a balanced emphasis on teaching and research and dedicated to delivering an innovative and comprehensive business curriculum to our students.Applicants should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrated collegiality, and the ability to work with multiple constituencies of diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications:

For this tenure-track position, a Ph.D., D.B.A. or other terminal degree in accounting from an AACSB accredited institution is required by August 2026. Possession of a CPA license (or other relevant professional license) and relevant professional experience in accounting is strongly preferred. Entry-level Assistant Professor applicants are expected to demonstrate potential for effective teaching, preferably with some teaching experience, and scholarly activity that will lead to publication in peer-reviewed journals. Experienced Assistant Professor applicants are expected to have demonstrated excellence in teaching and have an active research stream with a record of publishing in peer-reviewed, academic journals. Evidence of professional activity sufficient to be qualified as Scholarly Academic, as defined by AACSB and Stetsons faculty qualification standards, is required.

Responsibilities:

The annual teaching load includes five regular courses and one approved contribution (equivalent to one course) to the Universitys experiential, contemporary, and integrative learning initiative. Teaching responsibilities may include undergraduate or graduate courses and will depend on the candidates disciplinary expertise; all areas will be considered. Interested faculty may offer theme-based courses that meet the Universitys requirements in General Education (e.g., First-Year or Junior Seminars) or international courses through Stetsons WORLD program and the Rinker Center for International Learning.

Additional responsibilities include: undergraduate advising; assistance with student recruitment; service to the university, college, and/or department; professional engagement; and building partnerships with accounting practice. All candidates should demonstrate a passion for the highest quality of teaching and maintain appropriate academic qualifications consistent with AACSB and School of Business Administration standards.

The Department:

The mission of the M. E. Rinker, Sr. Institute of Tax and Accountancy (www.stetson.edu/accounting) is to offer intellectually challenging undergraduate and graduate education that facilitates the development of our students as successful accounting professionals. The focus of the department's educational program is excellence in teaching in a rigorous, yet supportive, learning environment that provides an academic experience infused with experiential learning, engagement with the profession and relevant technologies. Students have the opportunity to participate in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, Beta Alpha Psi, and the Rinker Student Assistant Program, enhancing their practical experience and professional growth. Additionally, students can become certified in QuickBooks, Excel, and other data analytics platforms, further equipping them with valuable skills for the accounting field. The department currently serves approximately 100+ undergraduate students and 35+ Master of Accountancy students. Course requirements meet CPA eligibility requirements in the State of Florida and offer a seamless transition from the undergraduate program into the Master of Accountancy program.
