POSITION SUMMARY

The Maintenance Supervisor is accountable for equipment reliability and maintenance execution within the manufacturing units. The Supervisor manages maintenance personnel and resources to execute scheduled work safely and effectively. This role will manage the maintenance resources assigned to the plant maintenance group with a focus on safety, equipment reliability, cost control, work execution, and personnel development. KPI metrics will be a key measure of reliability improvement, work process adherence and cost management.

TARGETED OUTCOMES

  • Review and ensure repairs in the plant are done correctly and to the required specifications that satisfy regulatory and corporate requirements.
  • Understand the capabilities of the workers to ensure more successful work progress and functioning.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement through 5S efforts in all maintenance areas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety and Environmental Duties

  • Responsible for Team compliance with all Petmate safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Deliver and maintain superior safety and environmental performance through engaged team members with high compliance to KPI’s.
  • Lead and develop a culture of Safety excellence supporting safety initiatives.

Equipment Reliability

  • Develop a Reliability Centered Maintenance culture proactively working towards Maintenance Excellence driving reliability principles and best work practices.
  • Work with Engineering and Operations teams to identify key areas for reliability improvement and developing action plans to improve OEE and support Operating Unit goals.
  • Apply appropriate reliability tools (Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, etc.) to drive improvements, optimize costs and improve asset effectiveness.
  • Drive PM optimization programs defining value added tasks and activities to improve equipment reliability.

Work Process

  • Manage monthly maintenance costs to approved budgets and monthly forecasts to consistently meet spending commitments.
  • Ensure maintenance plans and schedules are effectively utilized to execute work (Daily, PM, and Project), help manage work backlogs, complete equipment and compliance PM’s, and maintain availability and reliability of equipment to meet production plans.
  • Meet or exceed KPI expectations utilizing data to drive continuous improvement and identify opportunities.
  • Implement long-term strategies to ensure efficient and cost-effective execution of maintenance activities, maintenance standards, reliability, equipment integrity, preventive/predictive maintenance programs, and CMMS management.
  • Execute successful safe execution of planned overhauls and shutdowns to meet cost and schedule commitments.

Employee Development

  • Provide leadership to ensure employees have the resources and direction to successfully meet expectations.
  • Establish clear objectives for direct reports effectively communicating goals and providing performance feedback through ongoing and annual performance reviews.
  • Communicate overall direction and plant initiatives using effective communication tools.
  • Develop team members through skills development and training opportunities.
  • Evaluate performance and competencies of direct reports and carry out disciplinary action as needed.
  • Ensure required certifications and training are maintained.
  • Develop a Reliability Centered Maintenance culture proactive in nature driving towards Maintenance Excellence.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement using Root Cause Analysis, 5 Why’s, and efforts engaging the appropriate technical resources.
  • Serve as the technical expert within Maintenance department and determine ways to share knowledge with larger Maintenance teams.

General Responsibilities

  • Participate in Capital Project team meetings as required for resource coordination and construction scheduling.
  • Complete special projects as assigned by Maintenance Manager.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Leadership, Management or Supervision role.
  • In-Depth knowledge of maintenance work process and maintenance best practices.
  • Experience leading teams in installation of new equipment and working cross functionally on complex maintenance projects.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Certified CMRP (Maintenance and Reliability Professional) is a plus.
  • Six Sigma training and experience.
  • Plastic industry experience is a plus.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of environmental safety and health policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent coaching and facilitation skills.
  • Experience and strong knowledge of process equipment, piping and controls.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with interdisciplinary and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to apply sound logic and scientific principles to problem solving.
  • Results oriented with proven track record of meeting deadlines and delivering results.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • Experienced user of MS Office products.
