Staff Accountant at FirstDay Foundation in San Antonio, Texas

Job Description:

Work Experience: Required -Minimum three years accounting experience. Working with not-for profit companies would be a plus but not a requirement. Strong knowledge and understanding of USGAAP. Experience in working with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, and Power Point. Experience in working with various accounting ERP systems and accounting software packages. Ideally will have solid experience in working in a complex multi-company environment. Experience working in a fast-paced environment.



Critical Action Items & Measurable Deliverables:

1. Initiates and prepares journal entries for various general ledger accounts
2. Reconciles, updates and maintains various general ledger account schedules
3. Prepare and file sales, excise and use tax reports
4. Prepares monthly allocations for various shared costs
5. Prepare payroll journal entries
6. Reconcile bank accounts monthly
7. Responsible for expensing prepaid balance sheet accounts
8. Responsible for reconciling and importing donor contributions into the finance ERP system.



Other Responsibilities:

1. Support month-end and year end close process
2. Prepare year end accrual journal entries when needed
3. Assist with auditor documentation requests
4. Preparation of 941 reconciliations


Requirements:
1. Ability to meet goals and deliverable dates
2. Ability to work in an everchanging accounting environment
3. Bachelor's degree in accounting
4. Familiarity with financial accounting statements
5. GAAP Accounting knowledge and experience
6. Knowledge of payroll
7. Detail oriented
8. Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
