Type: Full-Time





Job Description:

Oversees and maintains University fleet of FAA part 141 aircraft trainers.



  • Interacts with Supervisor of Department flight Ops and Chief Flight Instructor

  • Maintains strict compliance with all FAA and aircraft manufacturers airworthiness and safety directives, to include Piper Warrior III, Seminole, King Air, Cessna Aerobat, Piper Archer.

  • Cleans and details outside and inside of aircraft.

  • Investigates technical compliance orders.

  • Maintains aircraft logbooks and records.

  • Performs daily inspection of aircraft fleet.

  • Order parts and advises and collaborates on maintenance diagnosis.

  • Inspects new parts for integrity.

  • Keeps aviation shop hangar and work areas orderly and clean.

  • Keeps shop equipment in operable condition.

  • Complies with campus and departmental safety procedures/policies and University, OSHA, and FAA recommended
    practices, policies and procedures.

  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Required Education: High School diploma, GED, Vo-Tec or Trade School.


Skills:





  • Basic math functions with aircraft wt & balance calculations.


  • Read/understand tech orders.


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Certifications:




  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant License.


  •  Flight School Graduate of FAA certified A & P aircraft mechanic school.

  •  Valid Oklahoma Driver's License in order to drive University vehicles or ability to obtain within 30 days from hire date.


Advertised Physical Requirements:



  • Regularly exposed to extreme temperatures in summer. 

  • Hangar environment.

  • Odors, noise. 

  • Must regularly stand, bend, stoop, use belly crawler; enter confined aircraft crawl spaces in cockpit and fuselages. 

  • Lifts above shoulders and carry 45 lbs or more. 

  • Exposure to heavy lifting; wear and maintain personal protective equipment;



Department Preferences:



  • 24 months single and multi engine aircraft A and P maintenance experience.
