POSITION SUMMARY:



Manages all aspects of Quality Assurance ensuring the performance of testing and inspection on product, as well as packaging per quality control program. Provide guidance, expertise and leadership to QA Supervisor and Lab Technicians.



REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:



The following responsibilities are general duties that a particular employee in this position may or may not be required to perform. The actual duties required of this position will vary.


  • Manage all aspects of Quality Assurance.

  • Lead team of salaried quality professionals to ensure effective application of quality program in both filling and packaging.

  • Serve as a key statistical resource. Verify product and process improvement through the implementation and analysis of statistically designed experiments and capability studies.

  • Communicate and collaborate cross-functionally to assist team in solving operational issues.

  • Oversee qualification of new products.

  • Lead risk assessment analysis throughout the plant, managing issues with non-conforming product to ensure proper control, minimize losses and complete root cause analysis to drive elimination of future occurrences.

  • Develop, reviews and audits SOP's.

  • Ensures implementation of company policies, rules and regulations regarding safety, discipline, Good Manufacturing Practices, etc.

  • Monitors raw material yields and recommends waste reduction measures.

  • Evaluates lab testing methods and proposes improvements and equipment needs.

  • Evaluates effectiveness of process control and improvement initiatives.

  • Provide guidance and expertise to QA Supervisor and Lab Technicians.

  • Conducts performance reviews.

  • Interviews and hires most qualified person for openings.

  • Coaches, counsels and provides discipline up to and including termination of employment as necessary.

  • Performs other duties as required.


EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION:



  • Bachelor's Degree in related field and 5 years Quality Assurance Management experience; OR 7 years Quality Assurance Management experience, preferably in the Food & Beverage industry.

  • Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within food & beverage industry.

  • Related training or certification. (HACCP Certification strongly preferred)

  • Experience working in a team environment.

  • Experience with MS Office including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

  • Previous experience in a union environment preferred.
