Job Summary: The IT Student Intern is a student-level position for the development of their technical and soft skills training in an IT healthcare environment. Personnel in this position are expected to complete a 12-month internship program. Candidates completing this program can be considered as a candidate for an external-level position in their department area of interest, or another position on the IT team. This is a supervised role responsible for identifying growth and development of the student, as well as creating innovative solutions to our departments. This role serves as an analytical/functional specialist and works independently with guidance in group activities, projects and events. This role is instrumental in understanding the fundamental basics of healthcare IT with its core curriculum, building of their professional style and creating a network foundation for future growth. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Assist Sponsoring Managers and their teams with the following: Assist in research and analysis of operational request Assist in project execution as assigned Assist in additional duties as assigned Assist with supporting end users as required by sponsoring manager Participate in all phases of the soft-skill internship program to include: - Attend weekly meetings with other interns in the program and participate in the soft skills training as described below: - Communication - development of public speaking and speaking styles, engaging conversations with team members, and creating presentations. Students must create a presentation to showcase their speaking and PowerPoint skills. - Time Management - development of concepts and personal practices of managing time professionally and personally. Weekly video and article assignments or discussed. - Productivity - development of concepts and personal practices in understand how one can be productive and practicing their capacities. Weekly video and article assignments are discussed. - Enthusiasm - understand of positive mental and physical emotion at work. Discussing big picture concepts and practicing ways to enhance and more positive work style. Weekly video and articles are discussed. - Emotional Intelligence - General understanding of emotions and connections at work. This concept helps with relationship skills with direct reports and challenges students to speak about their overall mental and physical health.
