SUMMARY



The Software Systems Engineer - FDA develops database solutions and provides identification/fixing of problems within existing software, design/implementation of new systems and enhancement of existing applications. This position interacts with the PM's, IT teams, FDA stakeholders and all levels of management. Must be able to drive and influence client requests, and will be responsible for aligning analysis in support of goals and project deliverables that affect client and project deadlines.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Oversees projects from analysis through implementation.


Coordinates projects between Client Services and IT as the department and client representative.


Provides weekly or daily technical system set-up status reports to team and client, as needed.


Responds to ad-hoc requests from the business users and technical team including development of queries and reports.


Serves as lead technical expert in the development team. This will include the analysis, development, unit testing and implementation for software releases and bug fixes.


Performs system administrative support.


Performs Oracle based development.


Performs data migration from source to target systems.


Performs design of data-warehousing schemas.


Develops ETL scripts for data transfer for initial and daily data loads.


Performs data cleanup tasks.


Develops and installs new builds into test and development environments.


Provides troubleshooting and debugging assistance to perform system analysis and issue resolution.


Supports development of interfaces, prototype development and ad-hoc reporting for FDA programs.


Provides Oracle database technical support and maintenance, including backups and recovery as needed, day-to-day support relating to Oracle systems testing, troubleshooting of Oracle system or application problems, and management of database security via user access and accounts. This also includes assisting in troubleshooting complex database and complicated software problems, and determining and implementing their solutions.


Provides customer centric support for helpdesk and other administrative tasks.


Assists application developers in converting/transitioning data and applications to future versions of Oracle, prepares application installation packages for Oracle applications, and implements architectural and/or design changes.


Maps the physical and logical structure of database instances. This includes determining the sizing, number, location of physical files and logical database objects and distribution, their availability and user access to create tables and index data.


Performs database administration functions such as the allocation, control and monitoring of space requirements and usage within table spaces, maintenance of directories and documentation of backup and recovery procedures.


Possesses expert knowledge in the following: relational database systems, state-of-the art database technology, distributed database hardware, software and telecommunications systems, database development tools, structured query language, database application analysis and design techniques, and requirements and methods.


Possesses extensive technical and practical knowledge of Oracle database versions up to 19c, performance tuning and extensive knowledge of Oracle RMAN, application server, SQL server, UNIX (including AIX and Linux) and Windows servers.


Possesses unique skills in test design, bug reporting and problem isolation.


Possesses ability to write test plans, create, customize and use advanced testing tools.


Responds to various ad-hoc requests from the business users and technical team including development of queries and reports.


Knowledge of dimensional modeling (e.g., Kimball, Inmon, etc.), including knowledge of slowly changing dimensions, historic reporting, Master Data Management and Metadata Management.


Works with end users to troubleshoot reporting issues.


Plans and manages deployment from Development to Testing to Production environments.


Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.


Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.


Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions as the best of own ability.



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE



Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Management or related field preferred and a minimum of eight (8) years' of Software development experience. Exposure and experience in working on EPLC Project is preferred. Experience with FDA technical environments is highly preferred.
