The Small Business Credit Analyst is responsible for performing the underwriting steps associated with Small Business credits. The incumbent will prepare credit memorandums and other tasks associated with supporting Small Business Relationship Managers as well as assist in preparing small business loan packages for approval and documentation.



Job Responsibilities:



  • Determine ability to support the debt service by obtaining information from financial statements or tax returns, review and analyze business financial statements and individual tax returns to prepare credit requests.

  • Prepare credit memos and financial ratio reports to be submitted to the appropriate lending authority.

  • Identify and mitigate risks and support the presentation of credit package.

  • Provide support to Small Business Lending Teams and the Relationship Manager as needed.

  • Work closely with the Loan Documentation team to ensure all due diligence is acceptable prior to loan closings.

  • Assist with teaching newer associate's system applications and proper underwriting procedures.




Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent work experience is required.

  • A background in Finance and Accounting which provides a basis for small business loan underwriting and analysis, including the review and interpretation of client financial statements and tax returns, review and understanding of data in both personal and business bureaus is required.

  • Must have a minimum of 2-4 years of small business credit experience including a strong background of reviewing personal and business financial statements.

  • Must have some general business and banking background.

  • Must have strong analytical skills.

  • Must have strong Microsoft Office skills including Excel.

  • Must be an independent thinker in collaboration with other professionals and be able to structure a loan request while maintaining the credit quality dictated by bank policy to "Find a Way" to grant a loan.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.

  • Must have a good understanding of applying Loan Policy to the underwriting document.
