Security Classification Guide Expert to work in our Arlington, VA office.



Job Description:


Key Role:

Support development of security classification guidance for a Department of Defense (DoD) information system. Collaborate with programmatic and functional stakeholders to Design, implement, and manage policies and procedures to ensure software security. Assess, design, and implement the framework of security strategies to control and manage organizational information risks. Assesses information systems to determine risk exposures and develops prevention procedures and policies. Monitor and govern daily sensitive activities and security issues to ensure the efficiency, effectiveness and policy compliance on the execution of security operations and controls. Develop and implement information system security training programs to enhance information security education within the organization. Monitor the latest security technology to ensure that training is updated appropriately.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience developing comprehensive security classification guidance documentation for a DoD information system, plan, program, mission, or project.
  • Experience maintaining compliance with DoD Manual 5200.01 "Volume 1: DoD Information Security Program Overview" and DoD Manual 5200.54 "Instructions for Developing Security Classification Guides."
  • Experience coordinating with Original Classification Authorities (OCAs) to document and disseminate classification decisions.
  • Experience with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes and procedures.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and independently with minimal guidance.
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Secret clearance.

  • Bachelor's degree.



Required Skills:

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with leading meetings and developing presentations/briefings for use by senior leaders.
  • Experience supporting DoD organizations in implementing or assessing Cybersecurity controls.
  • Experience serving as an Information System Security Officer (ISSO), Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM), and/or Security Control Assessor (SCA) in the U.S. federal government.
  • Knowledge of Army defense business system and/or enterprise resourcing planning (ERP) systems.

  • Top Secret clearance.

  • Master's degree.
