A Day in the Life

This role is part of the New Product Development (NPD) Design Quality team. As a Quality Engineer II, you will primarily focus on supporting new product development for the Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) Operating Unit within the Neuroscience Portfolio. As a member of the Design Quality team, you will have primary responsibility for influencing product quality and reliability outcomes across new product development projects.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Actively represent the quality engineering function on the product development team.

  • Apply knowledge of Design Control and quality engineering principles to positively influence new product development efforts, including those for the Voice of the Customer, establishing design inputs/outputs, Design Verification & Validation, Process Characterization & Validation, Component Qualification, and Risk Management

  • Completes risk analysis studies of new designs and processes and provides the development team with risk management guidance/support.

  • Work collaboratively with the Reliability Engineering team to develop and implement a reliability plan for new product development.

  • Support the Supplier Quality Engineering team in assessing product and component risk and impact.

  • Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.

  • Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.

  • Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation complies with requirements.

  • Collaborate with Released Product Quality and Post Market Quality teams to support product investigations.

Required Knowledge and Experience:
Requires a Baccalaureate degree

Minimum of 2 years of quality engineering experience

Nice to Have:


  • Medical Device Design/Manufacturing Experience

  • Background in product realization and Design Engineering / Quality

  • Risk Management Experience

  • Statistics Knowledge and experience in applying statistical methods (Cpk/Ppk, Weibull analysis, ANOVA, t-test)

  • Experience working in Minitab, Microsoft Excel, PowerBI

  • Effective verbal and written communication, analytical, influencing, and interpersonal skills

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$76,000.00 - $114,000.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
