Position Overview:



The Senior Tax Analyst is a crucial member of our Indirect Tax team, reporting to the Manager of Indirect Tax. Responsibilities:



Legal and Fiscal: (Motiva/Aramco Trading Americas)


  • Handle end-to-end tax reporting responsibilities for one or two significant states.


  • Support end-to-end tax master data for Aramco Trading.


  • Consider registration in new geographies.


  • Monitor, track, and communicate legislation related to Indirect Tax daily.


  • Support the Manager of Indirect Tax with undefined ad hoc tax reporting, financial analysis, and audit defense requests from RightAngle, SAP, or other source systems.




Financial Stewardship: (Aramco Trading Americas)


  • Lead the quality of balance sheet tax reconciliations, Blackline consolidation, and Quarterly Account Review representation.


  • Provide monthly cash forecasts to Treasury.


  • Monitor Blackline controls, ensuring compliance with established risk guidelines and procedures.


  • Prepare annual tax information needed for audited financial statements.




Leadership:


  • Contribute to the growth, experience, and institutional knowledge of tax team members.


  • Develop strong partnerships and serve as a tax focal point for internal departments and other stakeholders.


  • Demonstrate a thoughtful and insightful approach to create new jurisdictional compliance methods.




Technology and Innovation:


  • Support the SAP S/4 Hana journey (Motiva and Aramco Trading Americas LLC).


  • Actively partner with the SAP S/4 HANA project team(s) to analyze, design, configure, enhance, and coordinate a robust test of the integrated tax solution for US and Canada tax needs.


  • Perform walkthroughs and demos with the SAP S/4 HANA project team(s), demonstrating excellent communication, presentation, and change management skills to engage the tax team with the tax solutions.


  • Inform the tax team of change impacts and coordinate communication and training needs.




Day-to-Day Support:


  • Manage systems/applications including SAP, One Source, Right Angle, Avalara, PEGA (Robotics Process Automation), and Tableau. Co-manage the relationship with internal and external IT service providers.


  • Maintain awareness of the spend associated with third-party service providers.


  • Foster a continuous improvement mindset; eliminate, standardize, simplify, and automate processes.





Experience and Qualifications:




Basic Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field.


  • Over 8 years of progressive experience in motor fuels, sales, and use tax compliance, advisory, or audit within the downstream oil and gas sector.


  • Knowledge of refinery, trading, terminals, and pipeline operations is a plus.


  • Working knowledge of SAP and the Microsoft suite of applications.


  • Demonstrated depth and breadth in tax analysis.


  • Ability to manage competing deliverables within established due dates while remaining calm under pressure and maintaining accuracy.


  • Adaptability, critical thinking, and strong problem-solving skills.


  • Skilled in navigating ambiguous situations, making informed decisions, and communicating effectively with stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.


  • Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.





Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience with SAP and Ariba


  • Knowledge of IT financial management principles


  • Prior experience with SAP implementations and tax bolt-on solutions.


  • Working knowledge of tax applications, both determination and compliance offerings.


  • Working knowledge of RightAngle.


  • Demonstrated leadership skills, formally or informally leading teams.


  • Strong industry and jurisdictional network of contacts.
