Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and passionate Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our team at Savvy Smiles Family Dental in Amelia, OH. Responsibilities: Assist the dentist during a variety of dental procedures, including fillings, crowns, and extractions, ensuring efficient and smooth patient flow. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and arranging dental instruments and equipment. Take and develop dental x-rays as directed by the dentist. Provide oral hygiene instructions to patients and educate them on proper dental care techniques. Perform dental charting, record medical and dental histories, and maintain accurate patient records. Assist with the administration of local anesthesia and other dental medications, as authorized by the dentist. Conduct preliminary examinations and assessments, including taking vital signs and updating medical histories. Provide chairside assistance to the dentist during procedures, including suctioning and passing instruments. Perform laboratory tasks such as pouring and trimming models, fabricating temporary crowns, and taking impressions. Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols, ensuring a safe and clean environment for patients and staff. Assist in the scheduling and coordination of patient appointments, ensuring optimal use of dental resources. Stay updated with current dental practices and techniques through regular continuing education and professional development.
Requirements: Valid EFDA certification from an accredited dental assisting program. Minimum of 2 years of experience working as an EFDA or in a similar role. Knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and materials. Proficient in taking dental x-rays and maintaining accurate records. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with patients and team members. Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively. Familiarity with dental software and technology. Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations.
