Description
SDi is seeking an enthusiastic team member to join our company as a full-time permanent employee. The successful candidate will participate in Sentient Digital Inc.s FIT program (Foundational IT Training), an 8-12 week curriculum focused on foundational cybersecurity skills, including threat identification, risk assessment, and security protocol implementation. As part of this great opportunity, you will be paid to prepare for the CompTIA Security+ certification and sponsored for a Secret security clearance.
Once you have earned your Security+ certification and completed your training path, you will join our Cybersecurity team to contribute to the safeguarding of information systems and infrastructure. As an Associate Cybersecurity Specialist, you will be capable of identifying threats, assessing risks, and implementing security protocols. This is an on-site position serving two locations: SDis Downtown Norfolk office and offices at Naval Station Norfolk.
The salary range for this role is between $35,000 and $55,000, commensurate with education and experience. Additionally, this program has a guaranteed pay scale that rewards candidates for professional growth and gaining experience.
Responsibilities
Assist in capturing and improving the security posture of DOD Afloat systems to establish a strong security baseline. Support the development and performance of cybersecurity teams, ensuring cohesion with network/system engineering teams. Help ensure information systems comply with DoD and Navy RMF standards, assisting in the review, verification, and validation of required DoD RMF documentation and artifacts. Participate in meeting deadlines and delivering required artifacts, maintaining strong working relationships with clients. Assist in planning and executing RMF activities, aligned with the ATO effort and RMF lifecycle. Support the development, revision, and finalization of IA documentation, including ATO package artifacts. Help manage timelines for deliverables to ensure all ATOs are completed timely. Participate in risk assessments and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate potential security threats. Assist in monitoring and analyzing security logs and investigating security incidents. Develop and deliver security awareness training to end-users. Participate in security audits and assessments. Provide support in responding to Information Assurance Vulnerability alerts.
Required Qualifications
Ability to obtain Security Clearance in first six months. No prior IT certification or experience is required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Strong desire and eagerness to learn about cybersecurity and risk management, with a focus on continuous professional development. Ability to work collaboratively and follow instructions. Attention to detail. Must be able to lift up to 25 Lbs.
Desired Qualifications
Previous technical experience or familiarity with cybersecurity principles and DoD Risk Management Framework is advantageous. Knowledge of STIGs, SCAP, and ACAS tools on DoD systems are useful, but not required. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to follow detailed instructions. Degree or Study in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Management Systems, Engineering, or related fields is helpful, but not mandatory.

Physical requirements for this position include the ability to life 25 pounds regularly, the ability to move safely in confined spaces, the ability to wear personal protective gear correctly when needed, the ability to go onsite to company and customer worksites, the ability to remain seated for extended periods of time, the ability to use a computer keyboard, and the ability to see and respond to dangerous situations when needed.
