Job Description:

AMETEK PDS is seeking a Continuous Improvement Specialist who is an experienced, hands-on lean/six sigma professional who will lead and drive continuous improvement and OPEX cost-savings activities. This position can be located at either the Binghamton, NY or Wichita, KS locations and will be responsible for analyzing processes, identifying improvement opportunities, and assisting in the implementation of these improvement opportunities. They will track and report on cost reductions, deploy Visual Management techniques, lead Kaizen improvement events, and promote a lean culture across the PDS Business Unit. This individual must possess a willingness and desire to work directly with his/her peers (and their direct reports) in the business unit to define and set a strategy for CIP efforts.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilites:


  • Lead the achievement of business goals pertaining to Operational Excellence, including efficiency improvements and related cost savings.
  • Identify and relocate products/processes with high labor content to the divisional low-cost site. Be hands-on in working the actions necessary to implement the transition of these items.
  • Identify leading key performance metric gaps and execute projects to minimize risk and improve performance.
  • Train and mentor team members in the deployment of Continuous Improvement practices.
  • Collaborate with departmental leaders to establish cost out targets, budgets, objectives, Kaizen event timetables, policies, capital requirements, material and labor requirements and other key metrics to track and evaluate current and new projects
  • Up to 25% Travel required
Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an applicable discipline preferred
  • Master or Six Sigma Blackbelt designation preferred
  • At least 2 years of experience in related field
Experience:

  • Previous experience in operations and/or manufacturing engineering activities, including process development, tool design, process documentation, appropriation of equipment, operator training, etc.
  • Demonstrated history of successful change implementation of operational excellence improvements in multiple functional areas.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem solving skills and communication skills (both written and verbal) with attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, & organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to successfully handle multiple projects and meet critical deadlines.
  • Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to relationship-building, both internally and externally.
  • Must be self-directed and be able to work well under pressure, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
