The ALM Analyst is responsible for assisting the Manager of Finance and CFO with asset-liability management (ALM) activities, including modeling, interpretation, reporting, and result analysis. This role involves establishing and maintaining internal modeling applications to support scenario planning and rolling forecast ALM results. The analyst will conduct in-depth studies of loan and share attributes, such as prepay analysis, credit analysis, share behavior, and surge balances. Key duties include coordinating and delivering quarter-end files to third-party partners for ALM reporting, as well as managing all quarterly ALM reporting results. The analyst will also assist in preparing, distributing, and documenting ALCO packages and meeting minutes. Additionally, the role entails performing various ad-hoc balance sheet analyses to assess predictive ALM impacts in response to rate changes and other attributes, identifying potential assumption changes to ensure compliance with interest rate risk positions, and supporting loan and share rate setting. The analyst will conduct pricing analysis of competitors within the credit union footprint and cross-train on critical tasks designated for the Liquidity Analyst role.
Location: Our headquarters are based in Syracuse, NY. We work in a Hybrid Model requiring a minimum of 5 days in office per month.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Support & Maintain ALM Activities: - Manage and oversee ALM activities to support the credit union’s interest rate risk position. - Develop and maintain scenario planning and modeling processes. - Ensure accurate and timely reporting and analysis of ALM results.

Perform ALM Modeling & Scenario Planning: - Conduct ALM modeling for credit union initiatives, including loan and share initiatives. - Develop and analyze budgets, rolling forecasts, and rate scenario stress tests. - Implement and evaluate balance sheet allocation strategies related to ALM.

Analyze & Interpret ALM Results: - Interpret ALM results and prepare them for management consideration and discussion. - Identify opportunities to enhance the credit union’s interest rate risk position through detailed modeling and analysis. - Provide recommendations for improving ALM strategies based on analytical findings.

Perform Pricing Analysis: - Analyze loan and share rates weekly. - Discuss pricing analysis and recommend rate changes with management.

Cross-Train & Perform Additional Duties: - Crosstrain in critical tasks designated for the Liquidity Analyst role. - Perform other related duties as assigned to support departmental goals.

Knowledge and Skills:
Experience
5+ years in asset-liability management (ALM), including expertise in modeling, scenario planning, and analysis of interest rate risk and balance sheet strategies. Proven ability to interpret complex financial data, develop forecasts, and contribute to strategic decision-making.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Professional certification (e.g., CFA, CFP, FRM) highly desirable.
