Overview

The Principal Product Manager is responsible for managing the Segment's product offerings. Responsible for getting the product to product-market fit. Owns and effectively communicates product goals and initiatives, roadmap, backlog, value proposition, targeting, pricing, and the product P&L. Manages product planning and development through collaboration with cross-functional team members, developers, product owners, architects, and stakeholders. Will drive innovation and strategic direction in complex and rapidly evolving markets and cultivate a strong product-centric culture across the segment. This position supports a good standing in the community, sustainable operations, and adheres to and upholds all company policies, safety standards and federal / state regulations.

Role & Responsibilities


  • Develop product pricing and strategies by utilizing market data in conjunction with production costs, forecast, and operational targets including specialty products such as colored masonry offerings.
  • Will drive innovation and strategic direction in complex and rapidly evolving markets and cultivate a strong product-centric culture across the segment.
  • Critical tasks include gathering and prioritizing customer requirements, working closely with Sales, Marketing, Cement Technical Services, Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations to ensure profitability and sustainability goals for the division.
  • Provide pricing guidance to the sales team, document rationale, and approve pricing decisions in the CRM.
  • Responsible for the optimization and management of product mix and pricing for asset efficiency and maximum value/ margin extraction.
  • Drive opportunity assessment with regards to prioritization, justification of investment, and business case development.
  • Create reports and cadence to communicate customer, market, and division level pricing changes as it relates to competitive activity and market demand.
  • Understands the market and the industry, competitors, trends, technology, consumer behaviors, business model and competitive constraints.
  • Determine Marketing and product requirements to optimize revenue and profitability by understanding the customer target audience and pain points, while coordinating activities to identify and promote product advantages and correct product disadvantages.
  • Ensure accuracy of price and costs in the ERP and CRM including customer and market segmentation.
  • Document needs of Cement for new ERP and CRM and champion solutions with cross functional teams including IT and Commercial Excellence.
  • Manage P&L of the product line and ensure asset level profitability.
  • Support sustainability roadmap and tie to customer needs and plant capabilities.
  • Own and utilize the free market matrix and the process to ensure accuracy and make informed pricing decisions to ensure market competitiveness.
  • Manages product planning and development through collaboration with cross-functional team members, developers, product owners, architects, and stakeholders to ensure product is fit for market.
  • Partners with UX designers to conduct user research, define and user-test feature prototypes.
  • Drives product discovery, iterative learning, and analyzes the product usage data to set priorities and acceptance criteria for various product owners.
  • Will drive innovation and strategic direction in complex and rapidly evolving markets and cultivate a strong product-centric culture across the segment.

Ability, Skills & Knowledge

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • 5-10 years of experience in sales, marketing, product management or a related field is required.
  • Ability to align product offerings with the overall business goals and market needs.
  • Cross functional alignment and coordination as well as stakeholder engagement.
  • Deep understanding of the cement industry, including production processes, industry regulations, types of cement, and their applications.
  • Understanding of pricing strategies, cost management, and profitability analysis specific to the cement industry.
  • Skills in developing and executing sales and marketing strategies tailored to the cement industry.
  • Understanding of the technical aspects of cement products, including chemical composition, performance characteristics, and usage in various construction scenarios.
  • Product development/ project management.
  • Knowledge of supply chain processes specific to cement, including distribution and transportation logistics.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening which may include a physical, background check, and drug screen.

Occasionally be able to lift and/or move up to fifty (50) lbs. independently and tolerate moderate noise levels.
