Internship - Tiffin Lending Office



Spring 2025 (January - May)



Posting will close on October 31, 2024, hiring to follow


To develop knowledge about AgCredit, ACA and the Farm Credit System's operations, products and services and how they relate to the agricultural community. Contribute to the successful operations of the cooperative. Comply with all AgCredit, ACA policies and procedures while maintaining regular and punctual attendance as expected of this position.



Responsibilities


Interns are expected to:

  • Learn about the Farm Credit System, AgCredit's operation, its products and services, and the primary job functions of branch positions.
  • Develop the skills necessary to effectively promote AgCredit's business by understanding how to make a sound credit decision, how to market AgCredit's products and services and how to service existing customers.
  • Complete assignments and projects both at association and branch levels as assigned and within the specified timeframe.
  • Submit a written evaluation of the internship experience to the Human Resources Administrator during the last week of the internship.


To accomplish the above objectives and goals, the intern will:

Attend the intern orientation, training programs and become familiar with other written materials.
  • Review information packet
  • If assigned, participate in project orientation, all related calls thereafter and contribute towards achieving a positive result of the group project.
  • Review numbered memoranda relative to assignment

  • Shadow and work closely with designated team member(s) to understand:
  • various job functions
  • products and pricing
  • processing systems and loan documents

  • Participate in field visits with Account Officers
  • Be exposed to different size and type loans
  • Assist with inspections and appraisals
  • Attend community events, if applicable
  • Promote cash management convenience products

  • Discuss and analyze financial information
  • Understand balance sheets and income statements
  • Learn key ratios and their importance in the decision process
  • Be able to interpret a credit report

  • Sit in and observe the application process
  • Be exposed to different customers (Commercial vs. Lifestyle)
  • Be exposed to new customers versus the servicing of an existing customer

  • Attend branch team meetings
  • Experience interaction of group meeting dynamic
  • Learn sales skills
  • Generate ideas for branch success
  • Assist with branch appreciation event, if applicable

  • Attend loan closings
  • Be exposed to the documents involved with a loan
  • See the interaction between members and all others involved with putting a loan package together.
  • Obtain referrals from new customer

  • Shadow select Admin employees
  • Obtain a general understanding of the admin function




  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Education: At least one year of post-secondary education and be working towards a 2 or 4 year degree
    • Reside in one of the counties serviced by AgCredit and have an interest in Agriculture and/or Agriculture Business.
    • Excellent communication (written and oral) and presentation skills.
    • Knowledge of structure and content of the English language to include the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
    • Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing and speaking so others will understand
    • Ability to operate a personal computer and related software including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
    • Ability to travel for training.

    Schedule

    • Will be flexible around school schedule
    • Student should be willing to commit to roughly 20 work hour per week
    • Office Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
