The Product Marketing Specialist is responsible for telling the world (and company) the story of the Computer Society's products and services. This role is our chief advocate for a specific feature sets of products and their benefits. As such, this person is charged with crafting the strategy around the messaging and marketing for new launches and featured products. This position will spend a large portion of time focusing on publications marketing. The role reports to the senior marketing manager and does not manage any direct reports. This position works under minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
● Together with the marketing and sales team, educate both internal and external stakeholders about our product features and their benefits.
● Create product content (e.g. sales enablement documentation, case studies, product videos, website copy, webpages, blog posts, Quora/forum responses) to articulate the benefits of our products to the world, including social media announcements
● Assist members of our sales team on calls with prospects when appropriate to provide deeper dives into the product.
● Work with external partners and develop relationships to communicate and share product information and samples on outside channels and platforms.
● Speak and present both internally and externally to promote the story of our product.
● Measure and optimize the buyer journey as it relates to product feature adoption and usage.
● Develops and manages plans for product outreach and marketing
● Works with all departments and relevant volunteers as needed
● Coordinates print and online promotions, ad words, landing pages, and writes marketing copy
● Defines requirements and resources, plans, and executes public relations programs that result in increased awareness of IEEE Computer Society publications
● Defines requirements and resources, plans, and executes new social media program
● Coordinates print and online promotions, ad words, landing pages, and writes marketing copy
● Ensures that all messaging and communications, both with internal and external audiences, is consistent
● Creates and distributes new issue notifications to subscribers for all publications, including transactions
Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Marketing, Advertising, or Communications Req
Work Experience
2-4 years in search engine, digital, or inbound marketing. Req
Previous experience in digital marketing, product marketing, and/or product management. Req
Skills and Requirements
Extremely organized and great at prioritizing and managing deadlines.
Excellent written, interpersonal, communication and public speaking/presentation skills.
Proficiency in using social media and social media software to monitor social media conversations.
Bonus experience and skills include Adobe Creative Suite and blogging.
Experience in various Microsoft Office Suite software applications
Familiarity with content creation for digital platforms is strongly desired.
Must have demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to work independently and on multiple projects simultaneously.
Must have excellent writing skills, and be skilled in writing correspondence, reports, progress reports, emails, and Web content pages
Proficiency in content management systems. You will be expected to build product pages, optimize the conversion paths on those pages, and use dynamic calls-to-action to create and test buyer stage-specific calls-to-action.
Prefer working in a collaborative, cross-team capacity. This role requires work across functions and departments. Requires constant interaction with teammates, partners, and prospects.
Prior experience working with volunteers/stakeholders is highly desired
Must have working knowledge of online platforms like WordPress and SEO concepts
Must have intermediate knowledge of social media best practices
Must have excellent problem solving abilities
Must be a technically savvy knowledge worker who seeks out technology solutions to business challenges; Strong technology foundation with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, email and database packages a requirement
● Prior experience working with volunteers/stakeholders is highly desired
