The manufacturing engineer will play a pivotal role in the production process of our solar panels. Their primary responsibility is to become the expert of the equipment and manufacturing processes under their responsibility. They will also have to optimize systems to ensure safe operation, good quality, efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The Manufacturing engineers work closely with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, production operators, maintenance, and quality control specialists, to create and improve production methods.
Key Responsibilities:
Primary point of contact for equipment issues
To improve equipment and processes for large-scale manufacturing, planning, and testing methods of manufacturing solar modules
Achieve quality and production requirements in a safe and cost-effective manner
Assess problems within the manufacturing line and provide solutions to optimize equipment uptime in a fast-paced environment
Assist in developing autonomous, preventive and predictive maintenance plans
Create/collaborate/audit work instructions for the correct way to operate/maintain the equipment
Have a thorough understanding of all Product Engineering and Quality documentation as it relates to machine performance
Review and address continuous improvement opportunities working closely with the Engineering Manager, other engineers, production, maintenance and quality
Review product discrepancies with Quality and Product Engineering team as needed
Monitor part and equipment failure modes; frequency of failures
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering with experience in the automation industry or MS in Electrical, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering. Minimum two years of automation experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Experience with PLCs
Experience with Install New Production Line (preferably Solar Line) is an asset
Experience with automation components such as robots, drives, sensors, and HMIs
Experience in working with ERP software is considered an asset
Experience working in a project environment considered an asset
Experience with CAD software
Ability to identify existing opportunities, foresee upcoming challenges and effectively react
Ability to analyze, organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects
Experience with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Ability to take direction and work independently
Self-motivated and ability to work well within a team with strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Must be participate in a background check and pre-hire drug testing
