EHS SUPERVISOR

Location: Plainfield, CT

How You Will Make an Impact?

The Plant EHS Supervisor will support a Morgan Truck Body plant to ensure safe working conditions for all team members. The position is responsible for engaging on all plant level EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) activities including coordination of coverage for EHS leads or coordinators in addition to overseeing the plant Safety Committee. In addition the collection of samples and conducting testing processes related to industrial hygiene or environmental. The Plant EHS Supervisor will be energized to eliminate accidents, injuries, and property loss through effective problem solving and management of countermeasures as a result of near miss or incident investigations. This role will continuously communicate a positive message and a course of action to be taken among the production space through BBSO and GEMBA process along with all other methods of engagement.

The Nuts and Bolts

1.Support local health and safety processes within plant, including JHA, PPE and assessments, behavioral based safety observations and ergonomics.
2.Oversees and directs shift safety coordinators, ERT/First Responder Team, Haz Response Teams,and Safety Committee.
3.Support local regulatory compliance to include, but not limited to: Title V, SPCC, EPCRA, RCRA,and storm water discharge
4.Maintain policy and standards and ensure all plants are appropriately informed
5.Support the preparation of recommendations for corrective actions to eliminate or minimize potentialor existing risks and hazards
6.Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of hazard management systems, policies, and procedureswith recommended changes that reflect opportunities to eliminate workplace injuries
7.Support the site in investigating, analyzing and reviewing near-misses and accidents to ensureproper corrective and preventative measures have been implemented
8.Support site in the review of injury and property damage reports, and in compliance of worker'scompensation regulations
9.Compile, analyze, and communicate metrics and KPIs via monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting
10.Develop education and training classes. Introduce and support EHS site in the delivery of newtopics and refresher classes
11.Conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices
12.Study ergonomic issues and recommend corrective actions
13.Other duties as assigned

Required Credentials

•Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in Occupational Safety andHealth or Environmental work or current enrollment in such program is required.
•Minimum of 1 year of hands-on professional health, safety, and environmental experience inmanufacturing environment is required.
•Certification/Licensure(s) - OSHA 511 or OSHA 501 Outreach Trainer may be substituted fordegree qualification if courses are completed within the last 3 years.
•Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations at local, state, and federallevels is required
• Proven ability to be proactive and can facilitate change through education and training and by being a team player is required
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral and be able to work with all levels is required
• Problem analysis and problem resolution with an understanding of root cause investigative process is required
• Strong time management and prioritization skills needed to support multiple locations is required
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook 365 is required

You Must Be Able to

The performance of this position will require exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection. Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting up to 35 pounds for files, computer printouts on occasion.
