This position is responsible for maintaining the environment climate in all District 8 buildings in relationship to temperature, ventilation, and humidity in order for a healthy and comfortable environment in which the District 8 employees can function safely and efficiently; and provide technical assistance and manpower as needed for the District 8 buildings. The Refrigeration Mechanic position exists to provide journeyman level service, maintenance and repair to all refrigeration, HVAC and chilled water systems. The position maintains and repairs all air conditioning and HVAC systems which include DDC systems. This position is responsible for the proper operations of all refrigeration systems, air conditioning systems and HVAC so that all equipment is operating in the most efficient manner and major breakdowns are kept to a minimum.
Minimum Qualifications
To qualify for Refrigeration Mechanic, applicants must meet all the following: • Two (2) or more years of journey-level refrigeration mechanic experience in the maintenance and repair of major air conditioning and refrigeration systems (for example - central air conditioning, window air conditioners, HVAC, and commercial refrigeration.) • NOTE: Appliance or home refrigerator repair will not meet the minimum qualification. • Universal EPA Certification for Handling of Refrigerants. • A valid Class D Driver's License
Ability to obtain and maintain:
1. Specials Class Engineer's License within 1 year.
2. Unlicensed Individual Electrical Work Registration within 6 months.
3. Unlicensed Individual Plumbing Work Registration within 6 months.
