Job Description:

FUNCTION:


The Intake Coordinator (IC) is primarily responsible for completing intakes for new residents; conducting new arrival orientation classes. The IC may also assist in reviewing referrals to determine eligibility and suitability placement in the program. The IC may also assist in the provision of resident services, activities, programs and case management as needed. The IC serves as a liaison with the referral sources and staff, and is responsible for maintaining productive working partnerships.



Qualifications




REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in corrections or human services, criminal justice, social work, or other related field; and 2 years experience in community based services provision with various populations is preferred.
  • Experience with community corrections services is preferred.
  • Experience in case management, treatment and services with individuals is a plus.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships with residents, staff and community partners are also required.
  • Strong organization skills, problem-solving skills and judgment are desired. The successful candidate must also have a working knowledge of computer word processing and spreadsheet programs.



PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Reviews referrals (correctional institutions, parole/probation authorities) in order to establish eligibility and suitability of potential residents (e.g., assess criminal background, nature of crime(s), documented record of progress, participation in available programs) and recommend acceptable applicants for placement based on available bed space, Federal
  • Ensure all applicable federal, state, and local government and contractual regulations and requirements are met or exceeded as it relates to the screening, admission and intake process
  • Coordinate, document and maintain records of agency bed count, resident termination
  • Ensure residents' and programs' records are generated and maintained in accordance with policies and procedures and contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as program representative with contracting agencies regarding agency and program admission criteria, space availability, in order to maximize available facility occupancy.
  • Develop, establish and maintain effective outreach services and positive working relationships with Contract staff and local and professional community agencies and resources.
  • Perform routine administrative tasks (e.g., prepare form letters for review and/or signature(s) (e.g., admissions, denial notifications & letters); tracks acceptances, rejections, available bed space, placements; prepares regular and special reports, keeps records of resident files and submits individual recommendations.
  • Conduct Investigations related to the Center Disciplinary Procedures as directed.
  • Perform coverage duties as needed (e.g., conduct alcohol/drug testing, issue incident reports, maintain logs, files, records; screen visitors; respond to inquiries from family members, probation/parole authority authorities regarding violations); attend outside training conferences &/or seminars, in-service training sessions as required; other related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain and demonstrate working knowledge of VOAC policies, procedures and operational procedures, as well as contractual obligations established by Federal Bureau of Prisons and ACA standards.
  • Attend staff meetings and other VOAC work-related meetings and functions.
  • Drive on company business and/or transport clients as required.
  • Participate in the provision of pre-service and in-service training for staff as directed.
  • Participate in 40 hours of annual training as mandated by VOAC, Federal Bureau of Prisons and ACA. New candidates must complete 120 hours of employment within the first year of employment.
  • Represents the Program to the community and general public professionally

  • The ability to safely operate a motor vehicle to transport oneself, consumers, and program supplies as necessary.
  • The physical ability to travel to assigned locations, stand, stoop, bend, reach, pull, push, lift, grasp, climb, talk, see, hear and perform basic and light home maintenance activities, and operate office equipment.
  • Move and lift light objects up to 30 pounds such as mail, supplies, files, and equipment.
  • Operating office equipment requiring continuous or repetitive hand/arm movements.
  • The ability to remain in a sitting position for extended periods of time.

• Enhancement of resident participation in the program and its services such that their individual needs can be met.
• To implement successful release planning to ensure residents' smooth transition to community life.
• To facilitate and monitor residents' participation and successful completion of the program.
• To assist in the operation of the facility to meet program goals and objectives appropriate to the needs of the residents and the requirements of the Federal Bureau of Prisons and American Correctional Association.
