Job Description:

The Dallas Children's Advocacy Center, DCAC, is seeking an experienced Assistant Director, LPC-Supervisor for our Mental Health Program.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Provides weekly clinical and agency supervision to clinical staff, including but not limited to ongoing case review, file audits, session viewing, providing feedback, providing guidance, and implementing performance improvement measures in efforts to serve families in a trauma-informed way and with fidelity to treatment models.

Staff Supervision: 8 therapists with a mixture of fully licensed therapists and therapists under clinical supervision.

ABOUT DCAC: The mission of the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center is to improve the lives of abused children in Dallas County and to provide national leadership on child abuse issues. DCAC is a non-profit organization and the only agency of its kind in Dallas County, working in agreement with public and private agencies to investigate, prosecute, and provide healing services for child abuse cases in Dallas County.

We reduce the victimization of the child, remove barriers to investigation and treatment, and enhance criminal prosecution with our distinctive multidisciplinary and united approach to these complex and severe cases, all at no cost to our clients. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervision:

Provides clinical supervision for therapists obtaining clinical hours towards licensure.
Ensures clinical staff follow agency policy and procedures regarding client files, assessment reports, case notes, treatment plans, productivity reports, telephone and MDT (multi-disciplinary team) consultations, and discharge paperwork.
Leads employees using a performance management and development process that provides an overall context and framework to encourage employee contribution and includes goal setting, feedback, and performance development planning.
Manages on-call schedule and therapist's schedules to ensure appropriate coverage, maintaining availability to provide on-call backup as needed.
Manages therapy team meeting schedule and assists the Clinical Director as needed in facilitating weekly team meetings and training.

Leadership:

Provides two-way communication to Chief Program Officer and Executive Team, as needed, about Clinical team's needs, trends, challenges and successes and act as an effective and positive communicator to clinical team about issues, policies, procedures and shifts in the Programs teams or other DCAC or partner teams.
Works with the human resources department to recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ an appropriate number of employees.

Fosters a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members that allows for disagreement over ideas, conflict and expeditious conflict resolution, and the appreciation of diversity as well as cohesiveness, support, and working effectively together to enable each employee and the department to succeed.
Supports staff wellness through CE-CERT (Components for Effecting Clinician Experience and Reducing Trauma) and debriefing.
Assists the Director of Clinical Services with implementing strategies to improve or enhance the flow and efficiency of client services.
Acts as back-up supervisor when the Director of Clinical Services and Assistant Director of Clinical Services are out.
Attends Assistant Director meetings as needed to fill in for AD staff, or to provide updates needed to ensure a full continuum of services for eligible clients through process alignment and collaboration.

On-boarding:

Coaches, mentors, and develops staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.
Assists in the onboarding of new hires by aiding in scheduling meetings with other departments and educating new staff on the policies and procedures of DCAC, including those specific to the therapy department. This includes training and ongoing review of documentation via our electronic medical record system.
Trains and supervises therapists in their use of assessments to diagnose and formulate treatment plans.

Department Compliance:

Follows agency policies and procedures as it pertains to performance management and disciplinary practices.
Pulls reports from our client database system to support therapists meeting performance goals and ensure therapist input is creating accurate reports or explore areas where data cleanup is necessary.
Assists in the maintenance of the client database to ensure accurate reporting of clinical and MDT activities and assist with database maintenance and user error issues.
Team Collaboration:

Assists the Director of Clinical Services in the development of Therapy Team goals and objectives.
Coordinates with peer Assistant Directors of Clinical Services to ensure consistency of supervision and strategy implementation.
Participates in the case staffing process to ensure appropriate referrals, oversee staff participation in case staffing and communicate information from case staffing back to the clinical team.
Meets with Assistant Directors of Administration, Family Advocacy, Forensic Interview, MDT (multi-disciplinary team) Coordination, and Operations to ensure a full continuum of services for eligible clients through process alignment and collaboration.

Compliance Training:

Attend conferences and/or training(s) pertaining to the treatment of child abuse to maintain the most up-to-date, trauma-informed information.
Ensures compliance with agency training requirements, for self and staff.

Other Duties:

Maintains a small caseload of clients as schedule permits.
Participates in weekly supervision with Clinical Director to provide or receive departmental updates and create plans.
Serves as expert witness for the Dallas County criminal courts.
Attends and participates in monthly supervisory meetings.
Attends monthly employee meetings.
Attends and participates and/or volunteers at the annual Crimes Against Children Conference.
Other duties as assigned.


Education: master's degree (M.S./M.A.) or Ph.D. in counseling, social work, marriage and family therapist or related field.

Required License(s) or Certifications: Supervisory designation on a professional license (LCSW-S, LMFT-S, LPC-S) in the State of Texas.

Experience: 4-5 years of clinical experience preferred and a minimum of 1 year of clinical supervisory experience required. Prior qualification/designation as an expert witness and experience in providing court testimony preferred.

Language: Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of child development and family dynamics; knowledge of sexual abuse dynamics as it relates to victims and perpetrators.
Knowledge of trauma symptoms and trauma-related diagnoses.
Knowledge of crisis intervention, assessment, counseling, theory, and ethics.
Skilled in individual counseling and family interventions using evidence-based trauma-informed treatments.
Skilled in training, education, and public speaking.
Skilled in child abuse interventions and collaboration with CPS, Law Enforcement and District Attorneys is preferred.
Skilled at being creative, resourceful, detail-oriented, and flexible possessing a positive attitude, tact, good judgment, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work well as a team member with staff, community professionals, and volunteers.
Ability to tackle multiple projects simultaneously and complete tasks on time.
Ability to provide feedback in a clear and honest way, allowing space for supportive accountability that will benefit the clinician as well as the clients served.
Ability to maintain ethical, timely and complete documentation of client files.
Ability to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and accountability in all work.
Ability to maintain transparent communication. Appropriately communicate organization information through department meetings, one-on-one meetings, and appropriate email, and regular interpersonal communication.
Ability to bring others together to try and reconcile differences and uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
Ability to establish and maintain professionally challenging achievement goals and exerting effort toward mastering tasks and a willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.
Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of employees, board members, partners, and community.
Candidates must have knowledge, skills, and an awareness of factors necessary for tending to the needs of multi-cultural and multi-lingual staff and families served.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work Location: Work must be performed in the office due to client confidentiality.

Mental and Physical Abilities: Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited physical effort is required associated with lifting and carrying objects (less than 25 lbs).

Working Conditions: Work may be performed but is not limited to an office environment.
