General Responsibilities:



Reports directly to the Director of Operations, Sterilization. Works closely with the Human Resources Team and supports/leads site wide initiatives. Exercises independent judgment in the establishment of priorities. Maintains a high degree of confidentiality in dealing with all business transactions, correspondence, performance plans, appraisals, compensation, and other employee relations issues. Supports UCC Covington Operations and Kitting Operations at the Global Distribution Center in Covington, GA.



SUMMARY



The Operations Manager manages the daily activities of hourly and weekly workforce in Covington, Georgia. Manages the Covington Receiving and Production Departments and a team of Kitting employees performing work at Global Distribution Center thus setting objectives and daily goals for the teams. Ensures adherence to all Plant and Division SOPs, DOPs, QSR Guidelines, ISO standards and FDA requirements. Supports, develops, and administers department budget(s). Provides a work environment that provides open communication and company values of quality, integrity, and service.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Ensures adequacy of staff through effective workforce planning, and timely interviewing, hiring, and training of employees.

  • Prepares work schedules, expedites workflow, and assists in the daily set-up of various operational activities.

  • Delegates duties and examines work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures.

  • Studies and standardizes procedure to improve efficiency.

  • Identifies and maintains items needed to support operations and is responsible for submitting these requests to the Purchasing Department.

  • Participates actively in all Lean Thinking initiatives.

  • Works proficiently in all aspects of the ERP Systems (JDE, SAP) applicable to kitting and receiving.

  • Promotes an inclusive speak-up culture through positive employee relations and great servant leadership in support of the Good Jobs Strategy.

  • Responsible for compiling and submitting monthly departmental reports, such as budget, WIP inventory, cost variances and a variety of reports designed to measure performance of the operation.

  • Ensure proper training of employees and conformance to all SOPs and DOPs.

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and procedures, QSR and FDA guidelines and applicable state and federal regulations.

  • Other duties as may assigned.

  • Knowledgeable about ISO 13485 requirements

  • Knowledgeable about warehouse and distribution operations

  • Must have a flexible schedule and be willing to work after hours and overtime when needed. Shift schedules are subject to change based on the business needs.

  • Training in Lean Tools and Techniques (5s, TPM, value stream mapping) a Plus

  • Strong leadership and motivational skills required.

  • Working knowledge of quality programs.






EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE :


  • Bachelor's degree from 4-year College or university in science or management area preferred

  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience working in a GMP compliant medical device processing operation






Physical Demands:



  • Regular typing and computer work performed daily.

  • Requires occasional light physical effort (e.g., prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping reaching and/or lifting of items - up to 30 lbs.).






Work Environment:



  • General office environment.

  • Some minor inconvenience or discomfort occasionally present in the work situation (moderate noise, disagreeable odors, etc.).






Training Requirements:



On-the-job and SOPs required for position.
