The Role



This is a co-op opportunity in Cambridge, MA from January 21, 2025 - June 20, 2025. Applicants must be available for the entire duration of the internship. Start date will be January 21, 2025.


The Analytical Research team at Moderna is seeking a highly motivated co-op student to support our ongoing projects that require extensive experimental testing. The successful candidate will play a key role in our analytical and formulation projects, focusing on the developing methods for detecting components in our lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), input materials, and process intermediates. The insights gained from this work will directly contribute to optimizing our research LNP processes and control strategies, ultimately leading to the enhancement of our formulations.



Here's What You'll Do

• Perform experiments using various analytical techniques, such as chromatography, spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry
  
  


• Support the development and validation of analytical methods
  
  


• Support the formulation of LNPs
  
  


• Analyze and interpret experimental data, and communicate research findings across departments
  
  


• Maintain good documentation practice and detailed scientific records of experiments
  
  


• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on the research projects
  
  


• Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instruments
  
  

Here's What You'll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

• Current Junior or Senior student enrolled in a bachelor program in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
  
  


• Experience working in a lab; knowledge of general chemical safety protocols
  
  


• Fundamental knowledge of analytical techniques and lab procedures.
  
  

Here's What You'll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

• GPA of 3.5 on a 4 scale or equivalent
  
  


• Demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as the ability to contribute to high performing teams
  
  


• Instrument/analytical experience preferred
  
  


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
