Job Description:

As a Creative Design Specialist for the University's Marketing and Communications department, the successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment to create a variety of high impact and high visibility digital and print materials.  Work alongside both our Creative and Social teams to build visually appealing content that engages our audiences.  If you're looking for an opportunity to enhance your design portfolio, join the team to contribute to the dynamic needs of our diverse campus community.



Essential Duties: 



  • Collaborates with various colleges and units across the university to create visually compelling materials that adhere to the university's brand standards.

  • Designs a variety of marketing materials including digital graphics, print collateral, merchandise/promotional, multi -media communications, graphic arts projects, and advertisements.

  • Ensure all designs align with the University of Oklahoma's brand guidelines and uphold the university's visual identity.

  • Develop and create motion graphics for video content to enhance storytelling and engagement.

  • Collaborate with different departments and colleges to understand their needs and deliver tailored design solutions.

  • Assists with social media channels and campaigns, including creating content that engages and grows our online community.

  • Stays updated with industry trends and incorporates best practices in design and marketing strategies.

  • Monitors progress of projects. 

  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position

Required Education: Bachelor's degree Marketing, Graphic Design, Communications, or related field.


Equivalency Substitution:  Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree.



Skills:




  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects).



  • Strong understanding of branding principles and the ability to work within established brand guidelines.



  • Experience in motion graphics and editing is highly desirable.



  • Experience with social media platforms and content creation is a plus.



  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  



  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information.



  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).    



  • Editing, proofreading and composition skills.



  • Organized and ability to handle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.



  • Ability to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives.



  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills



Certifications:




  • None  



Advertised Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to occasionally lift 30-50 pounds.  Ability to engage in repetitive motions.

  • Standard office environment.  Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies. 


Department Preferences:



  • Minimum of 2-3 years of professional graphic design experience.
