Job Description Summary

Ensures the Credit Union’s physical security and fraud program adequately protects all locations, members, vendors and employees in the TN Division; administers building access system and security equipment maintenance; assists staff and interacts with members regarding fraud and security issues; investigates a wide variety of complex fraud claims while maintaining the confidence of the member; performs research and analysis to protect the Credit Union from loss and exposure; serves as a liaison to local law enforcement agencies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Monitors new construction and renovation for security equipment requirements; schedules repairs and routine maintenance; tracks quarterly alarm testing for the Credit Union’s TN Division and reports discrepancies; handles access control issues and security alarm concerns.

  • Assists with security and safety issues regarding employees and members; offers advice, direction or intervenes with individuals exhibiting inappropriate or threatening behavior.

  • Acts as a liaison with third party vendors and Local, State and Federal law enforcement agencies; assists with the Fire Steward Program and with performing security audits, assessments, evaluations and training for the TN Division.

  • Investigates alleged fraud cases; interviews members to gather information and provide assistance; prepares and obtains necessary documentation for prosecution; processes bond claims; researches history and notates account regarding fraudulent activity.

  • Interacts with vendors and other departments to provide information, assistance and to research and resolve security and fraud related problems; assists branches regarding transactions on fraud associated accounts. responds to research requests for video evidence and other information.

  • Stays abreast of security trends and enhancements and all Security and Fraud industry codes and standards, as well as all applicable Local, State and Federal laws and regulations; makes recommendations to improve security processes and procedures.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications

To perform this job satisfactorily, an employee must be able to carry out each essential duty competently. The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, skills and abilities required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Education Requirements

2 Year / Associate Degree - Security Operations, Law Enforcement or related field - Required

CPP or PSP Security Certification - Preferred

Experience Requirement

2 Years - Prior fraud and/or physical security experience in the financial services industry - Required

  • Learn and apply information, on a wide range of Credit Union products, services and regulatory compliance requirements, in order to assess member situations and develop solutions.

  • Resolve and provide guidance in the resolution of problems utilizing advanced knowledge and experience within areas of responsibility.

  • Use logic, reasoning and mathematical skills to solve practical problems and make sound decisions.

  • Communicate in a professional manner and deliver information clearly and effectively. Actively listen to questions, opinions and ideas of others. Use tact and diplomacy in sensitive and confidential situations.

  • Use correct English including spelling, grammar and punctuation.

  • Operate computers and use business software and other standard office equipment.

  • Understand and follow written and oral instructions.

  • Set priorities and manage one’s own time effectively. Efficiently handles changing deadlines and multiple concurrent tasks.
