A well-established company has an outstanding opportunity available at their Tennessee location for a Plant Manager. The Plant Manager directs all day-to-day activities of the plant consistent with company schedules and policies. Monitors and coordinates the effective and efficient utilization of associates through proactive, high participation, teamwork involvement, and is responsible for the administration of policies and practices of the company. Is an internal customer to Engineering, Shipping, and Human Resources and therefore works in conjunction with functional managers to influence those supporting departments to ensure customer satisfaction. Develops manpower loading requirements based on production schedules. Sets priorities for production schedules based on new product introduction, equipment efficiency and materials supply. Directs the work efforts of three to six Shift Managers and Department Managers. Makes budget recommendations on capital expenditures and labor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work safely and foster the safety culture to achieve safety excellence
Manage Production Shift Managers and Department Managers; provide support, development and leadership to all shifts,
Assist in the effective utilization of production capacity, staffing and equipment through planning, organizing and scheduling; make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing levels, work assignments and work procedures considering budgetary limitations and time constraints
Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight, repair expenses - promote cost consciousness and expense reduction
Set and monitor production standards, responsible for accurate production reporting and timekeeping
Coordinate or recommend procedures for facility or equipment maintenance or modification including the replacement of machines
Review production schedules to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing levels, work assignments and work procedures considering budgetary limitations and time constraints
Incorporate shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel
Assist in problem resolution and incorporating continuous quality improvement principles into daily quality culture
Manufacture products to customers specifications and work with Quality Department to improve customer satisfaction through programs to meet or exceed customers provide on-time delivery
Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production problems
Responsible for associate development, conduct and overall performance of plant
Address associate concerns, resolve problems, train, coach and discipline associates; make suggestion for hiring and terminations
Develop budgets or approve expenditures for supplies, materials, or human resources ensuring that materials, labor or equipment are used efficiently
Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives
Frequent interaction with associates at all levels of the organization
Maintain 24 hour per day on call availability to deal with potential problems which may occur
Assure compliance with state and federal regulatory matters including OSHA, EPA, EEO, Affirmative Action, Quality Audits
Perform other duties as assigned by management
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in plastics or engineering
10 year of manufacturing management
Knowledge of extrusion, converting, resins, printing, thermoplastics, polymers a plus
