A Day in the Life
In this exciting role as the R&D Engineer II, you will work collaboratively with a team to design, develop and launch medical devices as well as support existing products.

Responsibilities include providing engineering knowledge to work with new product development teams, design of medical devices, as well as successful completion of the product development process. This role also assists with testing design concepts, gaining customer feedback, and developing clinically valid test methods for medical devices.

This position requires collaborative interaction with Manufacturing, Quality, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs and other key functions to achieve business deliverables . This role is an individual contributor within the Released Product Management team in Medtronic's Peripheral Vascular business.

  • Works collaboratively with a team

  • Designs, develops, analyses, troubleshoots and provides technical skills during research and/or product development.

  • Work directly with other engineers and technicians to create design solutions for challenging problems

  • May be involved in product research and development and/or clinical trials.

  • Translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products.

  • Understand anatomy, disease states, clinical use cases and user interface requirements and using these to drive the definition of product requirements

  • Create prototype concepts with a team

  • Assess the performance of developed devices through execution of structured experimental plans to drive data - based decisions

  • Define and develop tests and test methods to meet product requirements

  • Verify and validate designs and processes

  • Write protocols, reports and presentation of analytical and interpretative nature to communicate results

  • Interact and build relationships with physicians as well as sales and marketing partners

  • Develop strong partnerships and work effectively with cross-functional team members

  • Perform job functions in accordance with applicable GMP and ISO standards

  • Comply with applicable FDA and international regulatory laws and standards

Must Have: BS degree with 2 years of experience or an MS degree both in a scientific technical discipline

Nice to Have

  • Mechanical competency in device design and analysis

  • Experience with peripheral vascular catheter products, processing and technologies

  • Experience with failure analysis, process improvements and change management

  • Experience with manufacturing processes and Contract Manufacturers

  • Strong problem-solving capabilities

  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects in an ambiguous environment

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$80,000.00 - $120,000.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
