A Day in the Life
The Quality Engineer II will have pivotal role and have responsibility for ensuring all aspects of quality within the Global Calibration Services - Midwest Region Metrology Department. The Regional Metrology Department provides calibration for test and measurement equipment used in research, development, and manufacturing environments within a wide range of Operating Units and functional units throughout the world. This challenging position will engage in the measurement traceability of all equipment used for making multiple products throughout the Medtronic portfolio.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

• Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality standards and protocol for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.

• Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.

• Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.

• Designs or specifies inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.

• Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.

• May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.

Required Knowledge and Experience:
Requires a Baccalaureate degree and minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work efficiently in a team environment

  • Familiarity with operating in a regulated environment (21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485:2016, ISO 17025:2005, etc. )

  • Customer service skills

  • Basic knowledge of measurement principles: measurement uncertainty, measurement traceability, measurement standards, test uncertainty ratios, measurement system analysis (MSA), SI units, calibration intervals, and out-of-tolerance reporting.


  • Knowledge of lean and continuous improvement methodologies; Green Belt, Six Sigma, etc.

  • Project Management

  • CAPA and Audit experience

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$76,000.00 - $114,000.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

he base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
