Job Title: Process Engineering Manager

Reports To: Director of Engineering

Location: North Logan, UT (works on-site)

Work Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-4pm


At Spartronics, the Process Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing a team of Process Engineers and Process Engineering Technicians in the completion of engineering projects. Their duties include hiring and training qualified engineering staff, setting project budgets and timelines for completion and helping their staff run tests or troubleshoot issues with prototypes or production assemblies. The Process Engineering Manager is responsible for the design and implementation of manufacturing processes, equipment and evaluation and will report the status of manufacturing process and equipment to a variety of personnel.


What a Day Looks Like:

  • Ensures that process standards, procedures, and specifications are in place for applicable company assets.
  • Establishes department goals and objectives and ensures that goals and objectives are met.
  • Provides direction, leadership and/or mentoring to the process engineering group. Writes and administers performance appraisals and performance improvement plans as required.
  • Interfaces directly with customers through presentations, meetings, or other communication media to represent Spartronics.
  • Presents group status in program reviews and monthly reports.
  • Assigns specific job tasks to engineers and technicians. Monitors their progress.
  • Identifies training requirements for personnel within the process engineering group to assure knowledge base for job empowerment and advancement.
  • Identifies equipment required to complete engineering projects and ensure all required tooling and equipment are available for the process engineering group.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies related to electronics manufacturing which improves operations and has ability to develop ROI and justification documentation to acquire.
  • Demonstrates problem solving skills in a work environment with a focus on continuous improvement. Works to optimize process systems for operational efficiency, high quality, minimized cycle time and exceptional safety.
  • Creates organizational and technical strategies that optimize budget, staffing, goals and cultural development.
  • Effectively presents information to and responds to questions from engineers, technicians, customers, and management.
  • Ensures that process engineering personnel are empowered to complete their job functions and develops training processes to minimize knowledge gaps.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Education/ Job Skills:

  • BS degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in electronics manufacturing with minimum of 4 years as a manager.
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt certification highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and control principles and practices.
  • Experience supporting new product development processes.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated project management skills including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Documented knowledge of equipment qualification and validation.
  • Working knowledge of IPC-610, J-STD-001 and ISO 9001 desired.
  • Professional and mature demeanor under stressful situations.
  • Experience in leading a culture of continuous improvement with demonstrated results.
  • Experience in implementing sustainable preventive maintenance programs.
  • Demonstrated results leading organizations utilizing Lean and Six Sigma tools and methodology.
  • Proficient in software applications specific to job requirements including Minitab or JMP, Excel, PowerPoint and Word or other process writing software.
